Lookie at that lighted set! And all those posters... it'd be a dream for any of us to walk into a 50's appliance store!
 
It reminds me that back in '58, a major appliance was a much bigger percentage of the average family's income.

Of course these days you could easily spend $1500 on a new washer, but then again you can get a top loader for about $300 as well. It all depends on what you want.

My grandparents bought our Magnavox stereo from Stucky Brothers in 1965. I still have it.

They are still in business today. Another location though. They moved several times during the years.

It was a huge purchase in those days. The $300 you'd spend on an automatic washer back then is about equivalent to $2000 today.
