No it's not a typo...

A year or so ago, I posted this set on a thread about consoles. People wanted more pictures, so I've taken shots of the components. Anyone know anything about early 60s JVC? They weren't imported here at the time. I think the set was brought into the country by a military family. It has a great sound and looks cool. Sadly there isn't much information about it online.

The set originally had 3 pieces, as you can see in the picture. One of the larger pieces is a turntable and tuner, the other is reel to reel. The smaller cabinet was for record and reel storage, but sadly the thrift store separated the set. I went home one day to think about it and the next day the storage piece was gone! :(

The tuner works fine, the record player and reel to reel need work, though the later won't take much.

Japanese Victor Company

JVC / NIVICO / DELMONICO were related. This is indeed a 1960's Japanese import. Yours seems super-high-end for JVC at the time.
You could find Delmonico branded sets in the USA starting in the late 1950's I believe. Those were often labeled Delmonico or Delmonico/Nivico.
Great find. They were good quality. No surprise it still works fairly well.
