I have seen

Robert cram his Frigidaires full,  to my horror, yet he still gets roll over out of them. He's a closet stuffer IMHO!!

Yes the 12 pound tubs are bigger if you stack a 1960 tub on top if a 1963 tub you can see the difference and if you look at the cabinets they are bigger too. 1960 was the last year of the 1950's sized cabinets because the larger tubs demanded more room to oscillate at critical speed.

Early 60s Frigidaire Multi-Matic Washers

Hi Phil And Jon, my question was is there any difference in tub size from 1961-1964 ?, I know that the tubs were narrower in pre 1961 machines, the machines was also narrower before 1961, I believe they were 25 1/2" wide and they went to 27" wide in 1961.

You're right about the cabinet sizes that changed in 1961 (both washers and Filtrator dryers went to 27" cabinets) but while the Filtrator dryers were all new and now 27" wide like the previous (and 1961) vented models, the washers didn't change much internally that year. 

The 1960 and earlier Frigidaire washers were 25" wide (25½ is Maytag!). 

 

I don't have a 1961-62 machine to measure (I wish I had one as I have a lonely 1961 clamshell dryer!). But according to my Canadian parts books, the part number is the same for all 1957-62 tubs and changed in 1963. I don't know if the Canadian part numbers all match with the US part numbers so there might be some differences in some US parts books...

 

The first picture shows 1960 and earlier parts numbers (part #5439222 for 1957-60).

There are hand-written part numbers which I guess were either Canadian or US variants or numbers that superseded the original numbers.  Some Canadian machines have different porcelain coating on their tubs but it seems that some Canadian parts books are copies of US parts books.
