What would cause the agitator in a 20lb. Norge-built Magic Chef to slowly turn back and forth during the neutral drain? Mine does this, and I see that the Wards in Robert's new video does not. Is this an adjustment, a fluke, or anything I should worry about to protect the life of this machine? The agitator will stop turning just before the brake solenoid releases and the machine starts to spin. Experts?

Torque spring

We had a Montgomery Ward Norge that did the same thing; it would slowly try to agitate as the machine drained, and if you didn't have a full load of clothes to hold the agitator still, it would keep fighting against the clothes before the brake released and started the spin.

I was told it was a problem torque spring. We took the high road and ignored the issue, and decided it was only a problem if you opened the lid to look :-)

Thanks Roto.
The question is, will this cause any damage to the machine in the future? I'd be glad to ignore this as well. Actually it's kind of fun to see it agitate in slow motion during the drain. It only stops once enough water is drained out so the heavy wet clothes are sitting directly on the agitator.
I'll motivate myself to take some pics of this neat machine.

I ran the Magic Chef/ Norge today after a couple weeks. It groans like an old creaky door hinge during the drain as the agitator is slowly moving back and forth. Then the bang, and into spin. I'm glad to know this won't hurt anything. I tried to take pics today, but the damn batteries were worn out in the camera. I'll keep trying.
