There is nothing wrong

with being effeminate There is nothing wrong with being an over the top hysterical drag queen. There is nothing wrong with pretending that it is still the 1920's and we are so so, just so très blasé.
And I am very well aware how enormously easy it is to look down one's nose when one is 6'2" and built like a brick out house...even the dumbest breeder thinks twice before getting into it with me.
Doesn't change who I am inside, just - they don't make heels in a size 13D. And I am just hell on glacè gloves.

That said, I do wish we could someday reach the point where we could talk about our goals and means of reaching them without everyone immediately freaking out. Impossible, absolutely impossible to do. Hell, you wouldn't believe the fight those of us had who believe in marriage and monogamous relationships...the condemnation and anger makes me wonder just how "free" some of our sisters really are when they see my life choices as a threat to them...
Same with the fem/butch-drag issue.
I suspect we might get further with some of the less cosmopolitan folks if they had a chance to see how we are in real life and not just the bird of paradise tired old clichés which get all the media attention. But even saying that I risk getting flamed.

I'm old enough to remember when gay bashing was the order of the day in Colorado and when I'm in the 'States, I pass that damn fence where they tortured and murdered Matthew Sheppard regularly. Those gay men and lesbian women, together with very brave straight people struck a blow for us. But even daring to mention that they were not all effeminate or butch dykes is far too dangerous, so I shan't.

I suggest we drop this one and return to Robert's glorious idea of celebrating this great day...then return to it later?

D---thanks for the Italian photos!

Looks like a lot of fun.

Jeff---Atlanta's parade has also become more of an economicaly centered with different businesses and civil leaders in attendance as well as the usual fire trucks full of the firemen/women that protect the "neighborhood" around Midtown, etc.,etc. "Gay" money has become very powerful around Atlanta, as it has in other municipalities around the world. That is the most important statement of all to make in this world. "Money talks!"

Nevertheless, I've never been to a Pride Parade anywhere that wasn't a lot of fun! And ooooh the eye-candy!!!!!!

Its only the people using "shock" to make a statement who make Fox News and the rest of the media happy. They love to feed the world that "shocking" stuff and thats what the world remembers!
Bette Midler used to say "F*%k 'em if they can't take a joke!".

True Colors

Last night we celebrated with a group of friends and went to the True Colors concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.

This is a huge outdoor venue in Griffith Park. Cindy Lauper, the B52's, Andy Bell, the Puppini Sisters, Wanda Sykes and others.

It was a blast and an incredible show!! Every act was outstanding. The audience was about 50-50 straight/gay. (Cindy Lauper asked for a show of hands.) The artists closed the show by all joining on stage and singing "Everyday People" and "True Colors." Each act encouraged the audience to get involved, to vote, to talk to family and friends and to extend equal rights to everyone. It was so uplifting! Part of the proceeds from the show went the Human Rights Commission.

The Puppini Sisters were great! Look them up on YouTube.

Fun pixs guys!! Looks like you were pulling a train in the back yaaad!! lol!!

Let's pick up where we left off!

I processed some of the photos from the remaining day(s) of the High Holidays so I'll continue the fun into the week!

While we were at Don's, a few of us drove by a house Don wanted us to see and then stopped at Menards to see the trade-in appliances they had for sale. This Hotpoint is one I've seen at least a trillion times, but not usually in gold!

Sunday was the actual parade down Henepin Avenue in Minneapolis. This is the gay motorcycle club, aka Dykes on Bikes but there were quite a few guys in the club as well so that doesn't really fit any longer. Loud, leather and fun - a great example of the diversity within our own "minority".

Our Omaha Pride parade is rather dinky compared to the major cities' parades and I'd forgotten how much of a corporate presence there is - these companies aren't stupid, there's a lot of money in the gay community! This is the Wells Fargo stagecoach, one of several that travel the country appearing at local events, parades, etc. Good to see it here!

And this is what I came home to...

We had a huge storm on Friday night and this gigantic limb, 30+ feet long and 12" in diameter ended up on my roof! It was removed today and there appears to be little if any damage to the house. I'll scamper up there this weekend and check it out for sure, but it all looks OK now...
