'71 Waste-King dishwasher, So.Cal., free to good home

We recently replaced our 1971 Waste-King dishwasher with a more energy- and water-efficient model. I'd like to see the Waste-King go to someone who'd appreciate it instead of the dump, but I can't keep it sitting around for long. We're in the Inland Empire region of Southern California.

The dishwasher worked, but had some minor problems: the seals were going, one of the door hinges is broken, and some of the tines on the racks are gone, but other than that it was still doing a good job. I took some pics, but they're on the cell phone with my husband so I'll have to come back and post them later.

Oh, forgot to mention that I have the original user's manual and installation instructions. If I do end up having to toss the machine, I'll probably put the paperwork on eBay.

Don't toss it...pleeeeeeeeeease. They were such good dishwashers, and completely unique in every respect. Does the machine have the two level wash or the tower in the center of the bottom rack?

I don't want to toss it, but I don't want it sitting on my porch indefinitely, either .

It has two spray arms, if that's what you mean by two-level wash. I got the pics (exterior and interior) off the cell phone, so I can post more if anyone wants to see them. Kennedy tower, are we cleared for takeoff yet?

I threw one of these into my sister's house..It was the Steam Machine unit, so it must have been late 70's early 80's with all the buttons on top and no timer dial whatsoever. Man it was noisier than any other machine I had ever seen but it DID do a damned good job of cleaning even without any kind of real filters down in the bottom, The amount of water and the proximity of the arms to the dishes made for some really clean dishes as well as incredible water noise pounding the tank walls, door and top.
Wound up putting in a Maytag Jetclean which has that stupid mushroom cap tower sprayer, but she doesn't really care how well it cleans. I just do all the dishes before we use them when I visit!
Too bad she is in Valley Stream and I am down here. She really should get one of my KA's as they really are so much better and I know that no matter what she does or how she loads it, everything will come clean!

Those truly were the best. Growing up, we had the 1981 Thermadore which lasted 21 years. My aunt had a Universal push button model from 1968 or 9. It lasted her for 29 years until she moved. Who knows how long it lasted beyond that.

Both our machines needed zero repairs. The only thing that ever went wrong was that they both flooded once. Otherwise the performances were flawless.
