Found one!

There is one on eBay in Cheshire, which requires new door clips to keep the bowl in place. It even includes delivery to the UK if Chesire is too far afield!

Sorry the picture is the wrong way up!

Does anyone have...

...a stash of, say, Persil Automatic from 25 years ago? I'd love to see if it was everything people seem to want to rave about.

My childhood recollection of washing powders was that they did terrible things to clothes...PE kits 20 shades lighter by the end of the year; harsh and scratchy towels; and always, always clumps left in the drawer!

Foamy rinses aside, today's detergents seem to me to be much easier rinsing than those of even 10 or 15 years ago!

Anyway, back on topic, good luck with acquiring the 9506.

Al,

Im torn over this vintage powder usage thing.

Have boxes of 80s Persil automatic, Fairy Automatic, Radion Automatic, Persil Power (aquired recently) a bag of Fairy Ultra, 80s Ariel twintub, 80s Persil twintub, Square deal Surf Automatic, which I keep mulling over opening and doing some trial washes with them just to see whats what.

I spose its something to do at a big meet so everyone can witness. Perhaps its time to arrange the meet of all meets and get organised for it perhaps this year so as many people can attend as possible.

Torn.......

@ Superelectronic We used to have a Hoover Electron and used the Ariel ultra and futur detergents and never had a problem with rinsing. I did prefer the smell of Persil back then to the awful scents we seem to have now except Persil non biological which smells just how detergent should do.

A Hoover Electon, you say?

...Considering you'd have got 4 x 25 litre rinses and a diluting cool-down out of that on a normal cycle, it would have been a travesty if rinsing had been a problem!

Still, at least if you do get the 9506, you'll be well on your way to 4 deep-ish rinses that should deal well with most detergents.

Quite true SE! Never had a problem with rinsing in that machine at all and had used everything from Ariel to Bold to Daz and not a trace of detergent left!!!!
Do you remember the formulations for liquids and powders of the 90's? They were not not so foamy were they. They used to create a few bubbles but nothing like todays. I have no idea what the detergent makers have done to the formulas.
