I fully admit I am still learning, and am looking for some answers, please. My 63 Hotpoint DW is going to be hooked up any day now. It is an Impeller machine. Is this gravity drain or pump drain? Is the drying calrod also used to heat the water up?
Do I stand a chance of finding the optional rinse aid dispenser and installing it? I appreciate any help. Thank you.

1963 hot point built-in dishwasher

Hi Lewis hopefully this dishwasher will work out for you it is a pump drain machine not gravity drain.

Calrod heating element is used to boost the wash temperature somewhat, probably the last thing you need to worry about is the wetting agent dispenser just use one of the premium tablets in this machine which has enough wetting agent built in that dishes should come out looking great.

Good luck and keep us posted

John

Anybody know the sequence of GE & Hotpoint changing over from impeller to wash arm machines?
Seems to me friends had a Hotpoint wash arm by 65 or maybe 64.
Was there a period when both were on the market?
Thanks

Hotpoint introduced an "arm and tower" dishwasher in 1958 for the top of the line models - other models were impeller-wash systems. GE dropped the impeller for all built-in dishwashers in 1963 however a few of the 'budget' MobileMaid portables kept the impeller. They seemed to fade out completely by '66 or '67.
