uh, I'm thinking the "GAS" was taken to be "GASOLINE."

I have heard of gasoline powered wringer washers. My aunt who lived on a farm in CT had one. But never a dryer. The Amish have Maytag wringers and Singer sewing machines that are run by air compressors also.

Perhaps this dryer is a kick-start with a Briggs and Stratton motor. You could email the seller and ask if it comes with the fuel/oil mixing can and the optional flywheel to run your butterchurn.

I've seen gasoline-powered dryers. You start them like a mower or snowblower. The TOL models have an electric ignition. They have to be exhausted out a window and of course they're quite loud....

But a gas engine has wires and it generates electricity to fire the spark plug. BUSTED!

The air compressors are run by propane or gasoline engines. The amish are not allowed to have anything connected to the ouside world, no phone lines, city water, or electric lines. They can uses propane. I have seen a few have gasoline farm machinery but not many. They do use propane gas ranges & refrigerators. We have been on a few tours of their homes and farms.
The amish object to the world being tied *together* with "stings", IIRC

Given that the location is Lilburn someone just knew that when you put gas in the car it was gasoline, because the only other type of gas is the embarrassing kind and you couldn't dry clothes with that. Fer one thing, they'd smell funny.

In one of my apartments the "dryer" was the shower curtain rod and plastic hangers.
Someone had a powerful purge in there, and I had to re-wash the clothes.
Funny now, not funny then.
