i found today a Maytag wringer washer. i paid $50.00 and it is in decent condition. i bought it for washing Vacuum cleaner cloth bags, i don't like using a automatic and i feel those need a closer watch. so with that being said, and me being in my 20's How does one use this type of machine...i know what most of the controls do, but is there a certain technique or skill that is required?... maybe someone could email me a instruction manual...

and second question....it needs a cord wired back on, i see where the two leads are connected with a nut on a post, but where does the ground wire go??? please help me with that to....and it needs a new drain hose.....any idea where i could get one of those?

thanx in advance...=)

There's a very good possibility that this machine didn't originally have a ground wire. But since you're replacing the cord that's easily corrected. Any number of fasteners on the machines structure could be used for the ground. I'll let others explain the proper use of the machine to you. I've never used one myself.

This old post does a good job of explaining it.  I recommend using a stick to put clothes through wringer the first few times using it until you get comfortable with it (trust me wringed fingers aren't fun).  I inherited my great aunts ten years ago and just turned 30.  They aren't that complicated, even in your 20s.  :)

alright.....

got a update for ya'll. i got the motor wired and it is still fine, the motor is a GE made motor. this is a earlier model with the OLD maytag emblem on the model tag. i found a new drain hose on ebay NOS. so i am all in all pleased with my new find...

thank you ClassicPrince for the link to youtube, i dint even think about doing that. it helped. ill be fine using the wringer. i had a Speed Queen at one time ( a Model 1130) and i had no problem with that. i just dint know if i was doing was correct. but im glad to say i wasn't to far off..
