Even though I'm still a little new to posting I've been a non interactive viewer of this site for years. And in that time have silently drooled over all the great finds and felt just a little jealous along with being awed by restorations of other people here on the boards.

After years of looking on Shoppers Square here and there I got a lucky break and finally got this sweet set of 806 / 808 Maytags I've wanted for forever. And I just wanted to make this post to show them off but also to say a huge Thank You to Goatfarmer for setting me up with these beauties. Thanks Kenny!

These are fresh off the truck pictures so they still have a little road dirt on them but they will clean up beautifully. Dryer knob is safely tucked inside the dryer for moving.

Thanks Bob ..

On both points! That's kind of how I saw it in my head too.. a week early Birthday gift for myself. Looking forward to the weekend when I have the free time to open up the shells and see what they look like inside.

CONGRATULATIONS...

Sudsomatic!

How exciting to get such a great score for an early birthday present for yourself!

Goatfarmer/Kenny is such a super nice guy!

I'm doing the HAPPY DANCE for you on this side of the computer! I can't wait to see pictures & your updates on your 806/808 set.

WOOOO HOOOOO!!
:o)

A Sweet Set of Maytags

A BIG congratulations Corey on a Beautiful set of Maytags. Can't wait to see follow-up threads on these beauties. I can not dance worth a damn like Christina, but the Hallelujah Chorus is playing non stop in my heart for you. Tommy (Losangeles)

Thanks everyone!

Hippiedoll I appreciate the well wishes and celebration dance

.Your posts about the similar set you have are ones I remember seeing on here when I first figured out the model number/maker. A beautiful collection there too.

Arbilab hah, I can understand that. I'm waiting for October for my new lease to start and stuck in a studio basement place til then, that's why my appliance tune up will be slow going... I still don't have my dream car either but getting this awesome pair kinda makes up for all that

And yes.. you and Hippidoll are right.  Kenny IS awesome.

Turquoisedude, definitely! Goatfarmer had another matched (Harvest Gold) set I was really torn on getting. Just a fan of the color and it's very 70'sness, but it was a later 806 pair and I really wanted that tub light from this earlier washer. White is quite nice too.

Tommy,  Well I appreciate the dance effort anyway.. I'm even worse at it. Hope to get things opened up soon. I know the dryer runs a treat and shouldn't need much of anything. The washer I need to pick up a garden hose (no water hook up in garage) to fully test but it gets power just fine.

Nice score

Washer looks a little grimy but the porcelain finish and zinc cabinets on these Maytags can really polish up nice even after decades of neglect.

My trick for removing hard water deposits on the top cover and tub is Bon-Ami and diluted Muriatic acid, (not mixed).

Yes I know, Muriatic acid can damage porcelain but I wipe it on with a saturated paper towel just long enough to remover the deposits then hose it off with plenty of water. Follow with an automotive polishing compound /wax and they look brand new.

Lot of elbow grease involved but the results are worth it.

Good-shepherd thanks for the tips. Actually these weren't as dirty in real life as they probably looked in the pics.. was just storage dust and road dirt mostly and they've come clean very nicely so far. But once I'm ready to bring them into their permanent spot definitely plan to get them extra clean and shiny.

Potatochips Yes, they are.. I always have loved that lighted panel with the perfectly placed center dial and the chrome details. All vintage machines are special of course but there's just something about the look of an 806 set to me.

Congrats on landing a dream set! And, you get the best of both worlds - an A806 paired with a Big Load DE808. None of that reaching in for the filter on the back of a Halo of Heat dryer. :)

This would make a most excellent daily driver set. For cleaning up under the lid of the washer, try some powered Bar Keeper's Friend with a hand towel. After a few rounds you should start to see the porcelain shine underneath.

Swestoyz, haha.. it's true. The 808 dryer is another reason I went with the white set over the Harvest Gold set he and I were talking about originally, that set had a matching 806 HOH dryer.

As fond as I am of that color and how the gold washer had a suds saver...  the roomier SOH  808 and the tub light in the washer of the white pair sealed the deal there.

Thanks also for the tip.
