Halloween 2016

Hi Steve, great to hear from you, cant believe its 15 yrs since we all first met up...yes those Hotpoint toploaders are a bit of a UK institution, the most popular toploaders sold here, first launched in 1964, a more compact version of the GE filterflow. The UK models had a 10lb washload with SpiraClean agitator with filterflow pan on top, first 3 models had a vitreous enamel outer tub then they went to a polypropylene outer tub set on a rigid tripod frame, 3 kw heater as well with set temperatures for cold through Warm 40d, Hand Hot 50d, Very hot 6od and nr boiling 95d. The first 3 models had an 850 rpm spin speed then where upped to 1050rpm for the subsequent 8 models which made production up to the mid ninties, the model finally being replaced with a slimline vertical access toploader in 1998.

Heres a few pics...

Thanks Mike,

Made until '97! I don't know what it is, however I just love those things! I am thinking that agitator creates better roll over than the larger tub US Hotpoint of the '60's!
Great spin speed, too. I would love to HEAR one in action. Solenoids ?

It was a fantastic weekend which just went so fast and a huge thanks to Al and Mike for putting this on. It's just great to be round like minded people and so many great machines and having a good laugh to boot. I could stay a week and it would still not be enough! I was so busy tinkering and playing I only took 4 photos which I've added

Thanks again guys x

Thanks Mike------

the agitation seems much more aggressive that the US version of that agitator. Or maybe it really isn't the same one. The US one is so lame if you watch it the clothes seem to never roll-over! Love this machine!

Meeting Up

Much as we love our vintage machines of all shapes and sizes, its as much about the people (of all shapes and sizes LOLOLOL) and what a great bunch it was. Wonderful to see old and now dear friends again and great to meet newcomers who hopefully will become new friends too. When Mike and I set out in this project 2 1/2 years ago it was with the hope that not only would be have somewhere to restore, display and use the machines but somewhere for us all to come together to share the enjoyment and our knowledge of them and I am very glad to say it has worked out very well.

We look forward to welcoming new international friends next year, it will be a pleasure to roll out the welcome mat for you.

Al

Hoover Autojet

I have a correction for Mike in his original posting, in that it was a Hoover AUTOJET that we used, the Crystaljet came much later.

As far as I am aware this was only the second outing of the Autojet since Mike got it, the last time was in, believe it or not, 2010. here is a video that I took at the time, we are not ready to take a chainsaw to the door of the Hoover yet.

The link below is to the thread of that meet in 2010 (when we were younger and prettier) - those great times at Mike's became the template of every good meet, machines, cake, gallons of tea, and good folks

More than a sucess

Al & Mike . Last year when we met for the first time it was totally fantastic. Throughout the year the friendships have developed and we have had so much fun together . This is the icing on the cake and such a great recipe for the future . I still have no idea at all where the time goes as it flys by SO quickly
I appreciate how much work you both put into the weekends and the time it takes to prepare for everyone's arrival .
You have brought so many people together and enabled us to build on some great friendships and have a great time and lots of fun together . Many thanks again Darren
