Off topic and off wing sing ,who else here was an Abba fan?

As a tried a true musician I took it plenty hard for likeing abba back in the day but now.......they seem to have a great following.
as far as i know there hasnt been another sound quite like this foursome. I love how thier songs are all story songs but not in the quiet country sense but just out there in your ear rock and roll sense

Tho I think Dancing Queen is a noisy song to say the least i cannot beieve the range those girls have in the vocal. SHeer brilliance in pullling that off and doing it commercailly no less

last but not least what a task to hardly be able to speak let alone sing english they must have worked extra hard to convert thier songs into english back in a day when there was no computer to do it for you....wow.

Anyone else have thoughts?

Yes-I liked Abba.Worked in a top forty station at the time their records were played and were on the Top 40 playlist.I loved how their voices blended together so nicely.Occasional play their songs today-on a DVD musicvideo. At the times their songs were on the list-liked them better than other music groups.Thought Abba had more talent.Their songs made sense.

I ADMIT IT~

I love Abba music too - always have.

I've got plenty of their original 45's and have at least 2 Lp's too.

Also, one of my local lady girlfriends who turned 86 recently loves her ABBA 8-track tape still to this day.

If you change your mind....I'm the first in line....Honey, I'm still free.....take a chance on me.....

New album

I loved "ABBA the Movie" and they are releasing a new album. No new material, though.

December 2007 marks the 30th Anniversary of the release of ABBA – The Album. ABBA’s fifth long-player found the group on an exploratory journey, with music and lyrics that were both more personal and more ambitious. To celebrate the release of a Deluxe Edition of ABBA – The Album, featuring bonus tracks and a DVD of previously unreleased TV material, we tell the story of how the album came to be.

The rumor is that they were offered, and turned down, One Billion Dollars, to do a return tour!!

I have ABBA songs on my personal music burned CD. They are right there beside Pink and Aerosmith bro. They were the best thing to come out of Sweden in history I'm sure of that.

The only thing I liked by them was Dancing Queen--because of the keyboard arrangement and accompanyment. Never really did even like disco, don't like dance/club music today either. I know, revoke my membership card.

Although I enjoyed a lot of their disco-era stuff, "When All is Said and Done" is one of my favorite songs by any group.

All the hits.....and then some!

One of my favorite ABBA tunes is "The Visitors"! It was a big club hit and a minor radio hit. Also love "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and the flip side "Happy Hawaii" (early version of "Why Did It Have To Be Me"), "Chiquitita", "The Name Of The Game", "S.O.S.", and "Fernando" to name some of the many hits they had!

It would be awesome if they would reunite - but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Aha--Aha, All the things I could do,if I had a little money! It's a rich man's world."----------

Promise you'll love me forevermore.Waterloo!.Couldn't escape if I wanted to.Waterloo Knowing my fate is to be with you." WOW!!! I love that song!!But then again I AM thee dancing Queen!LOL

thanks all

When I started this thread I knew thered be some fans, Never thought Id get actual lyrics to the songs...that tickles me

I sadly doubt there will be a reunion coz i think one of the guys is dead. Anyone else know for sure

A local high school already did the Mamma Mia play here even before it hit our community theatre

When you look at those vids on you tube any one noticing the Frieda seems to look younger as the band gets more famous?

Sorry kids but I had a few words wrong.I guess the excitement overcame me.The actual song lyrics for Watterloo go like this:

My my,at Waterloo Nepolian did surrender
Oh yea and I have met my destiny in quite a similar way'
The history book on the shelf is always repeating itself
Waterloo!I was defeated you won the war.
Waterloo!Promise to love you forevermore!
Waterloo!couldn't escape if I wanted to.
Waterloo!Knowing my fate is to be with you.
Wa wa wa wa waterloo--finaly facing my Waterloo.

My my,I tried to hold you back but you were stronger.
Oh yea!and now it seams my only chance is giving up the fight.
And how could I ever refuse I feal like I win when I lose

Refrain

So how could I ever refuse
I feel like I win when I lose

Refrain

And that's the way it was 1974

I don't believe anybody died. One of the female vocalists

The blonde
(who's name currently skips my mind)prefers to not speak any English again.I am pretty sure they are all originaly "Finish" but I heard that she decided her time with Abba was over and chose not to be any part of any reunion.
