All Free & Clear - Opinions?

I have noticed over the past few weeks that many people I know use All Free & Clear. Some use the liquid, and many like the pacs. I’ve never really been interested in Free & Clear detergents, but now I’m curious. Does anyone here use it and have any opinions?

I normally use Tide, Persil, Kirkland liquid, and sometimes Ariel. Does it work as well as these?

Costco has the 158-load bottle on sale for just over $10.00. I have more detergent than one can use in a lifetime, but what’s one more bottle, right?

I've used this stuff, although not in the last couple of years. It's not a particularly powerful detergent. It is not something I'd want as a one and only. But some people with sensitive skin like it. I also sort of like it for line drying in summer because there is no detergent fragrance to compete with the real fresh outdoor scent.

 

I had better luck with All Free Clear Oxi. Again, it's not the most powerful detergent--but IIRC was better than the regular All Free Clear.

We used it for a few years.  It worked fine.  Also CVS's Basic free and clear liquid (made by Sun) worked equally as well, probably because All is made by Sun too (but now both belong to Henkel)!  The only reason we stopped using it is Tony has a tendency to overdose the machines causing too many suds.  Switched to pods and all is well.

I just can’t help it, I have to come out of the store with one,I also buy “foreign” ones from eBay etc, you know, just to try!!.

Worst thing is, a lot of the time, I trash a lot (I do gift where possible, especially unused ones to food banks etc) as I get wound up by having so many to wade through in the cupboard, but still it doesn’t stop me buying, but as there isn’t much calling for part used (usually less than 5 loads per container) detergent, not much I can do.

Yes I do feel sick about it, escpecially the money I have probably spent over the years (luckily though, I almost never, if ever, pay full price (I’d have to really want it to do that).

Although “free&clear” products are not that popular here (UK) we have only just really got a mainstream scent free detergent line, I have used various ones in the past, they work fine, and upshot is that there is no fight with a softener scent if used.

My ex-girlfriend used to use it....

...and she liked it. But she also had low expectations for detergent. I’m not a fan of “Free and Clear” anything, but I can say this much: All (as well as Surf, Sunlight, the now-defunct Wisk, and almost every store brand) is made by Sun products (now part of Henkel). No idea if the formula has changed, but Sun products, in general, are weak performers.

I used All Free & Clear, recommended by my Dermatologist, for several weeks last year. Can't handle OFBs. It did okay, but cleaning wise I think there is better out there. It seemed to me it faded darks, and towels didn't have a fresh clean smell to them after a couple of uses. Currently using HEB's Bravo that's formulated for Texas hard water, also I think Sam's Club Wind Fresh is very, very good but is about 30 miles from my house round trip. I doubt I'll go back to using All again unless I develop any more skin sensitivity issues. That was my experience.

FWIW

CR rates Persil Sensitive 10 points higher than Tide F&G. However, your best bet is to go to Target and buy the Tide Ultra Stain Release F&G. It is the same top performing formula but has no scent or dyes! It rates 12 points higher than the Persil!
