Be Careful. Any time I've ever used Tide Coldwater (HE Liquid) it's been a pain in the A## to get any of it rinsed out. It really is a suds-maker..
Never have tried the powder so I don't know what to expect.

Thanks for your concern. I have used both powder and liquid Tide Coldwater before. You are correct, the liquid can be very sudsy, but the powder wasn't as bad, in fact overall I really liked it. I liked it enough that I used a good bit of it in non-cold washloads.
I never wash in true cold, but I do at times use the summertime coolish water of our tap to hook up an extra washer via a garden hose.

making sure powdered detergent disolves in a front loader?
I don't have great luck so I've been sticking to liquids.

If you're no the northern part of New Jersey, check out the National Wholesale Liquidators in Lodi. They have a large selection, including Ace and large buckets of some sort of asian Tide. Cool store in general, I'll sometimes wander through on lunch.

Was trying to remember the name of the shop on Broadway in SoHo that had all those detergents and other products one mentioned upthread. After saying "Nationwide Warehouse" just knew that wasn't right, but couldn't think of the name.
Sadly the location in Soho, Manhattan is now closed, but there are others in the NYC area. Shouldn't wonder why as the Soho, Noho, Tribeca, Downtown Manhattan area has become so trendy. Even Bloomingdales opened a branch.

Funny update on my Bi-Lo store
The pictures of the powder detergent shelves at Bi-Lo were taken last Saturday. I couldn't help but think they had a lot of wasted shelf space with the repetition as shown, and not that much sales volume. The only time I see powder move well there is when something is on good sale, such as a BOGO or several dollars off, etc.
I went in yesterday to get a few thing to find a store re-set in progress. The powdered detergent section has been completely redone. This section is now about 1/2 to 1/3 the size. They didn't get rid of much except the Gain HE, the small size Tide Vivid, and the Trend (the Trend had a HUGE amount of shelf space for a $3 box) but everything else has only one shelf slot now instead of several. This was overdue.
I guess I'm glad I got some pictures when I did!

The last of the non-concentrated powders was made by P&G for North America in very early 2011. The Southern region was the last region to be converted to the concentrated powder. Proctor & Gamble seems to 'clearance' detergents that go to Ollie's either when they are approaching the 1-year old mark OR when the product has been reformulated or re-packaged. I had a P&G customer service rep one time not long ago tell me that their detergents are best at one year old or less, and they seem to subscribe to that in their inventory management by what they clearance-out to Ollie's and Big Lots, etc. Most of what I've bought there is about 8 or 9 months old, based on the date code, some a little less.
You might find some older boxes of the old Tide still on a sleepy store's shelves, but because the boxes weren't the same sizes as the new concentrate boxes, they are obvious and most stores either moved them to the front or pulled the old stock off the shelves.
Is there a particular old-style Tide you're looking for?

One time when we were shopping @Century grocery in Charlotte noticed a small bag of Tide. One could tell
it was imported for the local clientele. Curious, I bought a bag to try out. The consistency was like that of 10-x
powdered sugar. While it dissolves beautifully in cold water the fragrance is definitely not that of what
Yankees are accustomed to!
My wife, who is Asian, hated it. After one load it was quickly relegated to our garage for use in my twinnie for
washing car rags.

I'm going to be very, close to many in a few days, and would like to know, if they still have tons & tons of Tide Powder on hand.
I'd don't care if it's french or spanish labeled. I just want to find myself some of the original scent, with the cleaning power I'm used to. I might even grab 2-3 boxes, to tide me over until I can find something more tolerable, probably persil.
