While I was never a big fan of the Andy Griffith show, I remember years ago when I was a kid seeing an episode where Andy had opened a Laundromat to make some extra cash to save for his sons college tuition. Now that it's out on DVD I finally got to see that last season episode again!

And check out these Pink Beauties! When I was a kid I saw it on a black and white TV so I never realized that the washers were pink. Although I did know exactly what they were...

Well, well, the Sheriff prefers pink. Didn't Goober stay overnight one episode when aunt Bee went out of town? Andy dated that beard of a girl, but nothing ever happened what with fat aunt Bea conveniently always around. And Floyd, if there ever was a cross dresser candidate in Mayberry..it is starting to add up...pink washers and an unmarried man..I'd say he was before his time in the message.

Think "free drying" was part of a gimick to get women into the laundromat. Being out in the country, most women would have simply taken their wash home to be hung out on clothes lines. Also remember quite allot of laundry in those days was ironed, and it is easier to take damp line dried laundry down (folding carefully of course) and iron, than sprinkle lots of machine dried laundry and wait for it to "dampen" <br
It is always fun to see black and white television programs in colour. Always seems strange to me though, as if persons before the 1960's or so LIVED in black and white! *LOL <br

Could be Whirlpool......

Poly-Clean Laundry Centers, had these washers with those window type lids, and first begining of the Wedge control panel Whirlpool was famous for years <br
Poly Clean Laundry Centers- only used RCA Whirlpool machines, except for those big dryers <br
Also, didn't this show feature all RCA Whirlpool appliances when Aunt Bea won on a tv show? I believe they were all Coppertone <br
Could be wrong...
