I got this Old 1959 disposer new in the box called Rinse away disposer. This thing is VERY heavy 40 pounds I have never

heard of Rinse Away disposer it sounds more like a detergent than I disposer manufacturer. The attention to detail is

amazing and just more proof that today's things are made to fall apart.

That Rinse-Away dates back to the times when disposers were real machines and not the toy ones made today!Love those cast shredding parts!both the shred wheel and rings! These look more like scaled down industrial shredders than disposers.Think Eidal industrial vertical shredders.Go to their website and the Eidal shredder grinding scrap metal is impressive-lots of sparks in the shredding chamber!

Correct!

Volsboy1 is correct. The RinseAway Company was a California corporation. Their disposers were made by InSink Erator of Racine Wi.

Yes there are tons of names for disposers but, what I am after are the rare old ones, that were made by some company I have not heard of .

I have I think about 40 or so disposers from the 50s and up.... Most disposer's are made by Wasteking and I.S.E. I get these old ones that are

not made anymore and are VASTLY better than anything out today.

The ones out today tell you not to grind this and that like corn husks and artichokes.. I have some that tell you to grind Oyster,Clam shells, plastic forks, paper, cigarette butts, any food that will fit in the hole..I don't put that down it all the time but I did try it and

it does grind what it says it will..

I remember Whirl-Away and even Garb-Away from the 70's found them at hardware stores or Hechingers at the time in Wash DC area. Those older disposers whose instruction say you can shred seafood shells, plastic tableware, large bones and such-those are sort of like the JWC "Muffin Monster" grinder shredders. The Muffin Monster sewage grinders get what doesn't go thru your disposer-what goes down your other drains.Thats why the Muffin Monster folks were saying NOT to flush your pet fish to free him-he would get shredded by Muffin Monster!-or a sewage pump.I am on a septic tank so I can't shred exotic items-those go to the trash and get compacted in the Baker compactor at the dump I go to.
