about 10 years or so ago, i remember reading an article in consumer reports, about the development of microwave clothes dryers.. i though it was a clever, and ingenious idea.. at the time the article said about 5 years for it to hit the market. ive heard not read anything since.. has anyone else heard? i'd love to hear details... thanks

i have thought of the idea of this about 20 years ago when i was a child but the only downside i could see of a microwave clothes dryer would be the metals on some clothing, ie, the zips metal buttons etc. I think with the wattage needed to be a sucsess plus the possibility of microwave exposure i personally would not want all that radiation drying my clothes.

I Have

I read an about them a long time ago and they worked rather well except that anything with metal produced sparks so the idea was abandonded. The solar powered clothes dryer was very popular until the advent of electricity. *Big Grin*

And...

We were also supposed to have ultrasonic dishwashers by now. I remember seeing a photo in some magazine (maybe "Popular Mechanics"?) around 1970, showing the bottom of a stainless-steel sink that had two ultrasonic transducers mounted to it with mastic.

Maybe someday. Flat-panel TVs you could hang on a wall were "ten years in the future" for about forty years. Then, suddenly, they were actually HERE.
