Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I don't know, but some folks sure can be dumb. I have a dryer that's 30 years old, works like a champ and doesn't have a spot of rust on it. I was trying to sell another one on Craigs List that's less than 5 years old, and this idiot broad offers me almost nothing for it. Then, she went on to say that she "can't trust a 5 year old dryer" and started yapping about a "noisy blower" on her old one. Hey lady, do you know how to clean a lint filter? It makes me wonder what some of these people do to appliances!

Actually, I had a liquid soap bottle with a small pinhole leak a fair amount of soap on top of my old Kenmore dryer. It bubbled up the paint overnight. Sometimes s**t happens.

Personally, I wouldn't trust ANYTHING made from the late 90's to the present. I'd trust a 25+ year old Maytag over anything new.

"pixtures hon!"

What does the photo of the control panel off a Whirlpool dishwasher have to do with the rusty GE washer dryer????

I`ve had my maytag pair for 10 years now & my oasis pair for 3 years.

My machines look like new out of the box .

I can`t stand trailer trash people - They are pathetic.

G and E appliances

When iI worked for Bernie and Harry's Appliance in Baltimore (bought out by George's in 1980), I would have customers who would say "G and E" when I asked them what brand their current washer or other appliance was.One day,a lady named Natily, called and asked if we carried "G and E" appliances. I asumed she was meaning "GE" and said yes.

She and her husband came in and as I aproached and greated them,I went to show them the old Filter Flows.Natily saw the FRIGIDAIRE 1-18's as we went to view the GE's and she said"That's what I want! pointing to the poppy red Frigidaire Jet Action 1-18 Gold Crown model.I asked her "Didn't you say you had a GE washer?" She said"No,I said G and E .You know,Baltimore's Gas and Electric company! We bought our old washer there. It goes up and down like this one.My mom wants one too so I am here to buy them both with matching gas dryers." I laughed so hard and they became instant permanant buyers. I sold them the rest of the poppy red appliances as well as her mother who got a full fRIGIDAIRE Custom Imperial kitchen in harvest gold.Nat also got her husband a Quazar Color T.V.for his Christmas present and he bought her a Tappan Microwave with the heating element. That sucker was huge! They both worked for McCormick Spice and gave me a nice 4 tear spice rack with 32 different spices for Christmas 1982. I still have it.

those poor GE's in that photo

When I think back on all of the laundry trade-in's at Western Appliance, and there were a lot, the ones I remember best were those that had received loving care. They looked brand new, usually had the owner's manuals and any accessories placed neatly in a plastic bag in the tub and occasionally had a can of the manufacturer's wax there too. As I have said before, only a few brands were allowed to be repaired and resold as used which meant everything else went to the scrap guy. How sad it was to see one of these cared-for appliances get thrown on a truck, have other machines smashed up against it and have yet another one dropped on top. I recall a friend's mother who always talked about her Duomatic she had when she got married and how much she loved it. I managed to save a beautiful Bendix from the scrap heap and gave it to her. This appliance was so clean that even behind the bottom access panel was spotless. The console had these cool lever controls with red, white and blue indicator lights which she said made it look "patriotic" in her Providence RI accent. I wish I could have saved more.

One day I will be lying on a psychiatrist's couch telling him stories about all the old appliances from my childhood while he shakes his head and makes noises like the begining of "60 Minutes."

4-5 yrs old?

Try like 11-14yrs. This model was only made for about 2 yrs. 97-98 IIRC. GE made other "touch" control models that looked very close to this one, i think they even made an identical looking version for awhile after this but it was not called "wizard" or "profile performance" It was just "profile"
