APPLIANCE GRAVEYARD

Its always fun to go through and see all the cool old appliances, but in this one the appliances look even more rusted than the ones in Aberdeen SD which I had the pleasure to spend two days in over ten years ago. Unfortunly these machines are probably good for parts only at best.

On our way back from Minnesota on Saturday Smitty and I stopped at a automobile graveyard in Ohio where the guy had 1,500 1950-1983 Chryslers and Imperials. It was great fun to walk around and see all these magniffcient automobiles, but very few if any were worth saving as they had been sitting out in the weather too long.

They do look bad, but I suppose if I was there I would have grabbed a few of the agitators and a couple of knobs just to keep them from going to the crusher. Can't think of any other quick to get part that might still be valuable.

Made my morning

Thank you for posting these. It almost hurts to see these beauties in this condition. Is the owner at all interested in, ahem, unloading any of these worthless pieces of metal??????

Well, here's post #560018 in better condition but with the wrong dial and the wrong knob:

Hey Marty, What a neat haul. We lived in Central Point for several years and I never came accross this gem. I hope there are some great finds in the pile. If I think of something I could use I will let you know and my son could pick it up from you. Thanks Dano

Save the Endangered Applaince Species!

There definitely needs to be a protective services for appliances!

I really hate to see all these beauties rust away!

And be brutally savaged by the environment (as well as being accused of HARMING the environment!)...

Quite a few 1963 Model 70 Kenmores. I do agree the machines look very rusted. Cleanup alone would be laborious. I can't imagine these could be saved, although wonders never cease. Still, this is a great graveyard.

Have a good one,
James

nice parts machines

There sure are some nice classic Kenmores there,so sad to see them so weather beaten.Grabbing some of those fat rotoswirl agitators and caps wouldnt be a bad idea, They would be worth their weight in gold..The kenmore in reply #8 has the lid handle I need for my 57 kenmore seen in an earlier thread.

general electric washer dryers

reply 16 and 33 looks like the dryer Grandma had until 1986 when it was sold at the estate sale

Unfortunately the washer broke and it was replaced I think in 66 with the Maytag 806

Does anyone have a pic of the washer that goes with the GE dryer pictured above as that is the only way to see it

If the machines are too far gone for recovery, can I beg someone to save one of those '63 Kenmore timer knobs?? There's a certain turquoise KM in Philly that needs one!!
