i love this baby shes got her used 20 years ago and has been a tank the whole time i have had it in the house. started it today, took the dog for a long walk came back it was on dry so when that finished i opened it up to unload and it had not drained. so ran a cancle and drain still didnt drain. ran a rinse and hold it wasnt pumping the water to wash. so got all the water out and took the pump apart to see if it had clogged. well oh no when i got down to the food grinder it was just flopping around. took the machine out of the kitchen into the garage and could see that the shaft from the motor that the grinder and impeller attach to had corroded through and snapped off. so i had a newer version kitchen aid in the garage that i got for free 2 years ago. i had left that machine just sit thinking maybe one day i could use parts off it. well took the motor and pump assy out of that machine and put it into the superba. everything fit and the wiring was the same. ran it in the garage and no leaks. so back into the house she went installed and tested it and so far its all good.

Good deal!

I always strip free machines down to every nut, screw, and bolt. Save everything, it'll eventually come in handy.

Glad to hear it all worked out!

That Superba is beautiful! The KitchenAid 21/22 series control panels were the best looking ones anyone ever did for a dishwasher IMO. My aunt has a very similar dishwasher (which used to be ours) to the one you are using for parts, except it’s black and a bit lower end. Made in 1994, is the oldest dishwasher I have ever had the pleasure of operating at this point. I bet there are other parts on the free unit, such as racks and wash arms, that would fit the superba as well. Hopefully, it won’t need them for a while though!

These models are the classiest dishwasher ever produced imo. The abundance of cycles/shiny buttons lined up make a statement of "ready for anything" which these machines truly were.

The quality built into these is something even a novice can feel just by opening the door (if the novice can figure that out) ha.

Hooray for donors!

Jon, I have the exact model in my kitchen. I got it from someone who was going to throw it on the curb when they were remodeling their kitchen. I rescued it, did a little work on the drain valve, and it's been my daily driver for about 12 years now. I do have one issue that just started a few days ago. The timer seems to be getting stuck on the dry cycle so I have to push the 'cancel' button to reset the timer for the next load. As long as it runs through the rest of the cycle I can deal with it.
