Hallefreakingluia!

"thirtysomething" will be released (finally!!) on dvd.

About time.

This show got me through the early 1980s.

First season out on August 25, and subsequent seasons out about every six months.

Wow,
Another "thirtysomething" fan.
Back in the day, I loved that show.
It got me through some "interesting" times.
I recorded all the episodes so I could watch and replay various scenes.
Alot of people complained the show was stocked with a cast of whiners, but I enjoyed it.
One of my new favorite shows is Brothers and Sisters.
I'm the 5th out of 6 siblings so I can relate to the concept of varied personalities in a family.
The show feels very "thirtysomethingesk"
Well, Ken Olin is the executive producer and his real life wife, Patricia Wettig, plays Holly .... Ken also plays David.
Both were a part of the thirtysomething cast.
Love shows that illustrate intense human interactions.
About a year ago, I pulled out some of the old VHS tapes and reviewed a few episodes.
I found it very interesting that the pace of the commercials was sooo much slower.
It made me think about how "sped up" television has become .... not sure it's such a good thing??
Anyways, I'll be looking for copies of the DVDs
Thanks for sharing!!

Good News For thirtysomething Fans

Apparently, it was the cost of the music rights for the original episodes that stalled release of a thirtysomething DVD collection. That problem has been solved, I understand, paving the way for Season One and others to follow. It was mocked in its original airing, but critics are kinder to the show now than when it premiered in 1987. (Maybe the producers' subsequent dramas, "My So Called Life" and "Once And Again" helped change a few minds.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

It got me through my thirtysomethings and into my fortysomethings.

My dentist was a ringer for Ken Olin - I never skipped a cleaning!

OK, OK, OK ....
I admit it .... I lusted after Michael (Ken Olin's character)
Back-in-the-day, he was also my role model ... hell, I was raising little kids, "clawing my way" in my career (climbing the corporate ladder) and trying to be a good, church going, righteous asshole at the time.
Amazing the different paths life takes .... what a script!!
And then one day you wake up and go OMG, WTF am I doing .... and then life changes .... for the better .... absolutely!!!
What Fun ....
