AW and Vacuumland Server Down Issues

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I was surprised it was down for a lot of hours - after a couple hours of trying intermittently, I thought it might be a hacker issue, but hoped not. But then, who knows? :-) Thanks for the updates Robert.

That is very interesting Phillip, I never knew about a public Google DNS before, I wonder how fast it propagates site ip address changes and additions?

Their out to get us!.....lol

Sometimes I think is a conspiracy.....

hitting several sites all around, before going into a panic, and found it odd, may be because of different servers, but Craigslist, Ebay, and Porn sites had no issues....

JUST US!.....jerks!.....

things that make you go HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

I was finally able to connect and post about 15:47 yesterday.

"Thanks for the message on Facebook"

Hey- I checked the Friends of AW FB page as well as yours, Robert, after the reply you emailed me (yes, I was one of the 6,257 who emailed him!). Last post I saw on the former was July 14, and last on yours was the pank laundry baskets from a few days ago. What am I missing?

Robert, There is also Open DNS as another alternate service, I used that for a time too. No need to stick with the ISP's provider. I think I was using Open DNS when I was still dialing a modem! I don't recall having one DNS issue since I changed to the Google one.

Both the Google and Open DNS use multiple data centers so you will never have a DNS server down situation. The Google service runs their own proprietary software and they seem to do a good job eliminating DNS Hijacking and redirects. From what I have seen it is very fast to flush changes through the Google service.

The Wiki page states Google Public DNS handles 130 Billion requests a day! Wow

Hi Chuck, I posted about the site being down at 10:47am yesterday morning on my Facebook page, it's still there.

I'll have to try it sometime Phillip, interesting stuff!

Resolution . . .

Still appears to be pending from my perspective.  This morning I've had trouble accessing the site, and with clocking issues when trying to view threads, or threads simply not loading completely.

This is one maintenance upgrade experience the IT team won't likely forget!   The amount of finger pointing that will be happening on the post-resolution conference call would make my head spin.

I'm using UNblockus.com as my DNS server, it's fast.  They do charge $4.95/m but using them I get Netflix Super HD and have access the Netflix Canada, as well as numerous other countries.

I noticed it was down yesterday afternoon and evening here. Didn't occur to me to email Robert, I figured he already knew about it, and that it was some sort of server/internet service provider issue.

Nice to see it all back up and running now... also had some withdrawal pains but stuff happens!
