Beko Unveils World's "Fastest" Washing Machine

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Well, Candy/Hoover and some from the Electrolux group have that function at least since 2006 and, at least for Candy, it should be for 3 kg of laundry...
As far as the full wash goes, I wouldn't trust it, 8Kg wash in a standard size washer is quite cramped so it takes time for the water and detergent to do its job, anyway, if it gives good results in less than an hour, well, I'm after it even if it's not made in Italy! I can't stand my 2 hour A+A 60°C wash that is more like 45°C...

You'll notice the text says it can "wash" a load in 14 minutes, not that it can "clean" the load.

I suppose it works for lightly-soiled loads, but I think reality will prevail if you try to clean a heavily-soiled load in that amount of time.

It will be a refresh cycle or for 'worn once' clothes...

Until this, Bosch had the shortest 'wash cycle' of the European machines at 15minutes....

But I have to say, that even as a refresh cycle, I wouldn't use it. I would much prefer to use a longer cold cycle and have more agitation than a very short (prob.6min) wash component where the water MAY get to 30c.....

Lacking a steamer or a dryer with a nifty "steam refresh" feature, I'd use a 14-minute cycle for loads of dress and casual-dress pants.

Mine rarely get soiled, but depending on the particular pant, they do get wrinkled after a day or two (or three) and a quick refresh to take out wrinkles and "resize" them is exactly what they need.

~The Beko Xpress WMD78144 is an 8kg capacity machine offering a selection of quick program options. It's designed to wash a 2kg load in 14 minutes and 8kgs in less than half an hour.

Any top-loading washer can wash about 8kgs in about half an hour. And degrease and de-mud and de-crud the contents better.

^this really isn't an argument about frontloads vs. toploaders. Been there, done that. We're discussing the Beko quick wash here.

I wouldn't trust 14mins to be honest. 30 mins minimum for "worn once" clothes for me and 1 hour - 90 minute cycles for dirty things.

Beko has come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years. I own a huge Beko fridge freezer and am delighted with it. I wouldn't buy one of their washing machines however due to the wear and tear that they suffer. That said, my mother in law has a rental property with a BOL Beko machine and it seems to be doing a grand job, gets a beating and seems to be quite the workhorse. Perhaps they are better than we think?

Quality of Beko

I'd certainly rate them more highly than the Indesit/Hotpoint or Hoover/Candy machines they compete with, and they're certainly a massive step up from the Haier made junk :-)

I don't see how clothes will be clean in any machine after a 14min cycle, 30mins maybe for one or 2 lightly soiled garments, then about an hour for a quick wash with a fuller load.

I quite agree. A top loader or twin tub/wringer that can START with heated water this would be acceptable but assuming that this machine has cold inlet only it must have a 1000KW heater!!! Plus, I thought UK detergents were designed for 'profile' washes where the water temp increses gradually? Or is this aimed at the Ariel Gel cold to 15 degree type wash?

well a toploader or twin tub can wash in 14mins

but thats just the wash, not including the rinse or spins or heating time.

I think this wash would literally only be suitable for clothes with no visible stains or odours, so basically it's ideal for washing clothes which didn't need washing in the first place.

I do love a good long profile wash for heavily soiled whites, you just can't beat it :-)

it MUST be a refresh cycle surely? Saying that, my machines 'quick' wash takes 90 mins and that is with no heat!

Beko

I think quickwashes are ok for lightly soiled clothes. My Beko 7kg washer does a fantastic 30 min quickwash. Its quite vigourous in wash action and doesn't hang about on getting through the rinses and spin. I use it alot on this program for smaller loads cause at the end of the day, the washing comes out clean. I first tried it on my mothers Beko when i accidently spilt spag bol down my white shirt and i was going out for the evening. I stuck it on the quickwash not really expecting it to come out clean in a short time and it did. Thats why i went out and bought a Beko for myself

My mother has...

...a 7kg Fisher and Paykel 'Beko' which as much as I loved the ASEA before it, is much much quieter.

There is a 30min quick wash and a 'Daily Wash' cycle along with the usual suspects.

She tends to use the Daily Wash with the time saver engaged for most things. Cycle is 40c and has a duration of 60min without and 45min with....

I can't fault this machine at all.

I've mentioned in other posts that since Arcelik (don't laugh) bought Blomberg in 2002, the quality of Beko appliances has vastly improved...to the point where the majority of Blombergs are now rebadged Bekos...

While this may sound a bad, I don't really care where the appliance is made so long as it lives up to the brands reputation...and Blomberg had a good reputation.

...so if Beko can keep this reputation going under the Blomberg name by selling rebadged machines, then I am happy to buy a Beko in that knowledge....

I firmly believe that this is one brand that has benefitted from buying another and they shouldn't be underestimated

I actually really like Beko machines. My flat had one in it until we replaced it with the Miele. Also, my best friend has the current BOL model - she got it as she has 2 kids and needed one cheap and needed it quick. She got Comet next day delivery and it's a fab machine. Washes really well.
