I'm changing out the tub bearing on my old Maytag (1970s/early 1980s with brown/black control panel), and I see that the design on the old tub bearing is far more robust than the replacements. Either OEM, or the newer ones, they use less rubber and while they fit, they're overall thinner. The current part is 6-2040130, I believe the old part was 200824 (G3B?). If someone doesn't have any old stock sitting out there, is there another make or part that is closer to the original and more robust? I suspect even the newer tub bearings won't last another 40 years like this one, and I believe from the old cursive Maytag logo this was the original. Appreciate any leads or tips.

Maytag got rid of the extra large wicking material in the newer bearings sometime around the mid to late 90's as the extra oil would sling around the middle of the cabinet, giving a false reading of a leaking transmission housing gasket or leaking stem/boot seal. You'll have to find an NOS one which is getting really difficult to find now (they were everywhere on Ebay 15 years ago). I installed a newer genuine Maytag tub bearing 18 years ago in my daily driver HA806 and zero problems thus far. A leaking stem seal is what takes the tub bearing out, anyway.
