Since Vacuumland is temporarily on hiatus, if Robert doesn't mind, we want to share our fun here where we started before Vacuumland. (Robert, can we shack up here again for a while?)

Anyway, Concetta Slattz, (aka Terry Lattz), flew into Charlotte yesterday to get the ball rolling. We are celebrating Ida, (Fred N.) and Helen's, (Charlie W. ), birthdays in Milwaukee.

Later today, Concetta and I are flying to Chicago, (we were going non-stop to Milwaukee, but weather conditions have changed that), then renting a car and making the short trek to Milwaukee.

There, we will meet up with Tania, Veda, (Fred S.), Jeff and current beau, Michael; Veda's beau, Joe, Ken Wagman, Ida, Robert Seger, Dwayne Taylor, and Charlotte Hollis, (Mark Thomas).

Should be lots of fun with food, vacuums, gifts, etc., and not necessarily in that order.

To get the ball rolling, Concetta and I played with my vacs last evening and would like to share with you. We start with the fabulous Hoover 150 from 1936. The two motor Air-Way Scout is in the backround.

wow, off to a good start

Look like fun Charlie, someday I will see your collection too!

I am SO excited about the weekend too, I am off tomorrow, and Michael and I will be in Milwaukee about dinnertime I expect.

My challenge is how we will fit the steamer trunk into Michael's Mini-Cooper!

You and Terry travel safe!

Agnes,

Two solutions: put wheels or casters on the trunk and pull it behind OR find some good bungie cords and attach it to the roof.

Even better yet, take it to Ida's and have her bring it in our new car. (See photo) I'm sure you heard we had to replace the Isotta Frachini. And this new one has AMPLE space as you will see.

I LOVE that Air-Way with the upright powernozzle. When I bought the store, I came across a couple of those adaptors, but we never had Air-Way here, so I'm wondering what they were intended for.

Am I Correct.....

In thinking that Air-way power nozzle is actually a Eureka upright without the bag????????

Seamus

Also love those Convertibles :)

Wish I could be there!!

Looks like the fun has all ready started. Today is my 45th Birthday so I will be with you all in spirit.

Morgan

yes,

Happy Birthday Morgan, may all your wishes come true!

Helen dear no worries, we will make the trip north with no problems, even if its me that has to ride on the roof!

Hi Charlie, you guys are always welcome here. I sure hope everything gets cleared up soon, we all worked so hard on that website.

Looking forward to my drive to Milwaukee on Saturday. It will be great to meet so many vacuum club members.

Happy birthday Helen and Ida!!!

Terry and Charlie,

Looks like a lot of fun, and I'm glad that Robert will partake in the upcoming vacuum festivities as well!

And I see that your Model 68 has a Model 70 bag on it as well, just like mine! It seems to me that besides the original, those are the next best thing :)

Happy Birthdays!

Helen,

I've always enjoyed your travelogues and now that you'll be here, I've got one-stop shopping. YAY

Hope the weather cooperates and everyone enjoys the gala event!

Bill

Well, that Concetta Slattz certainly gets around, let me tell *you*! Brave one she, traveling in that direction at this time of year twice within a month! LOL Least I know why I haven't heard from her.

So, we have three birthdays here, is that what I'm understanding?? I think I know which one is Helen and Ida, but Happy Birthday to all, including Morgan.

Andy, drop me a line and let me know what you're up to. Hope the weathers gettin' better!

Update News Flash!

I'm happy to report that Concetta and I are now in Milwaukee awaiting Ida and Duane Taylor. Due to weather issues, our plans were slightly changed yesterday.

The flight to Milwaukee was canclled and all the air service between Charlotte and Milwaukee is operated by, "USAirways Express Fun World!" You never know when an express flight will operate or not! Fun World!

So, we took a "real" jet to O'Hare, (the agent was an old friend of mine and family so he plunked us right into First Class!), where we picked up a rental car and drove the 1 hr. and 10 min. drive up to the cheesey city.

Last night was great. Tania provided a great dinner and we played with vacuums until 11 PM, when Concetta and I went back to our hotel. Charlotte Hollis arrived at midnight, courtesey of "Fun World"---he was only 1 and 1/2 hours late!

Futher updates to follow. We are off to visit Veda at Hoover.

Austin--BTW, that is the original, correct 68 bag on the 68. The color may have faded or changed over the years, but it is, indeed, the 68 bag! Good eyes you young thing!

I am hoping Ida brings her "patch cord" to provide more photos.

Oops-----Ida's broom just flew by and she is now docking. I'm outta here!

countdown continues here...

I'm happy to report my bedroom is now all painted, also in Hoover colors.
I took today off from work to finish that and so we could motor to Milwaukee before the traffic gets too bad.
Michael's and my estimated departure time from Roselle is 3pm.
The running joke is: "How many vacuums will a Mini-Cooper hold?"

Hint: There is one for you to take home with you Helen dear!
