Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

I have them in my electric and natural gas dryer, even though the mfg recommends that you place bar in the center of drum, if you really want more scent to your load, mound the bar closer to the exhaust where clothes come into contact of the lint filter. I think it does OK for what it's worth but I like the linen scent best!

The dryer that came with my last house had one of those packets or bars in it.  I dislike artificial scents.  I prefer my clothes to smell like nothing at all.....that's what clean smells like to me.  Anyway, I didn't even notice the thing in the dryer until after taking out the first load of clothes to discover puzzling spots of some sticky substance on the clothes.  As I pulled the last article out of the dryer I felt a tug and heard a "peeling masking tape" sound.  The edges of the dryer thingy had softened and curled no doubt from repeated high-heat cycles exposing the adhesive which was now all over my clothes.  I ripped the thing out of the dryer drum and had to use acetone or something to remove the residue in the drum, and then go several days without using the dryer until the fumes and odor of the chemical were gone.  Not to mention replacing several ruined dress shirts!
