Typical....
....P & G mis-reading of consumer trends to fit their corporate biases.
The current management of P & G is hell-bent on adding strong scents to all of its laundry products. It is becoming obvious from posts both here and elsewhere that this is not sitting well with many consumers, particularly men who see no reason to go around smelling like Kim Kardashian on a hot day.
What many of us miss is the "smell of clean" we grew up with - the freshly-laundered scent imparted by old-school products like Tide, Wisk, Oxydol and Cheer in their midcentury formulations. This trend is becoming apparent enough that not even P & G can ignore it.
But the "smell of clean" is not a perfumey stench, and that stench is what P & G wants to push. So, we guys get Old Spice Pure Sport Scent instead of the neutral "smell of clean" we miss.
Bottom line, P & G: Right church, wrong pee-yew.
