Misc thoughts....
I don't care to see Brokeback Mountain, not because of the gay characters, but because I can't stand downbeat romance movies of any stripe. I don't like romantic comedies either. Or any picture with Jlo (Benifer for that matter), Jennifer Anniston, Babs Commie("the rules only apply to you little people) Streisand, Ed Assner, Susan Sarandon and her wife, and a few other big mouthed 'celebs'.
The worst movie I ever saw, hands down, was "Terms of Endearment" the romantic "dramady". Long stupid scenes, dumb situations, terrible editing, mother and daughter smoking pot together (that was supposed to be hilarious, right?) and then when the "laughs" are over, the screenwriters say what the hell and give the daughter terminal cancer. End of movie. But heck, people loved it and it was a hit, go figure.
I don't care if people are gay, or movies have gay characters. Why should I? I just can't stand downbeat movies.
As far as our group here, I think it wisest that we all refrain from conjecture about who sins where and why and how. We're here because we enjoy collecting great things, design, engineering, not because we may have different beliefs and orientation.
Just my two bits.
