I'm definitely going to see it, though it doesn't open until January 6 here, I'm pretty sure.

I was practically in tears just over the trailer, so I'm taking a whole box of Kleenex with me. Normally, I don't see anything that isn't a comedy, but I'm going to make an exception for this one.

I've read the short story

by Annie Proulx. It was a very well-written story, but I'm not sure if I want to see it. It has a rather "pre-Stonewall" ending.

That's one thing about American movies with a gay plot or subplot, they are still likely to end in a "pre-Stonewall" manner, whereas British/European films are less likely. My favourite right now is still "Beautiful Thing."

On the other hand, the idea of Jake Gyllenhall in cowboy boots is pretty darned irresistable to me.

It will probably come down to where it plays here in Northeastern Ohio. If it just comes to Cleveland's Cedar-Lee, it will depend on if anyone else in my circle wants to see it.

We're going to see it for sure, looks like its going to be a tear jerker, but a wonderful story.

ours is the culture that flips out if a woman's nipple is exposed, but we don't mind showing brain-blowing violence.

How true is that statement unfortunately, it has to be the most stupid, harmful way of thinking, if I live to 200 I will never understand the mentality behind that.

And this just in: SEVEN (count them!) Golden Globe Nominations.

It looks to be a winner, and a major contender for the Oscars.
I feel so proud, esp. after Proposition 2 passed here in Texas with something like 76% of the vote!

Nominations are one thing, winning is another. Remains to be seen. "Midnight Cowboy" did win Best Picture.

It's in Houston this weekend. Our group wants to see it, but dunno exactly if/when we'll go.

Though I am looking forward to watching Brokeback Mountain,
today I peeked in on King Kong. It looks ok, but L O N G, something like 3:30min. Should be a crowd pleaser for the Christmas crowds, if it doesn't wear them out time wise. LOL
Reminds me of Jurassic Park plus the remake of the original
film.

I've heard so many great things about "Brokeback Mountain," but I know it won't play around here. "Rent" played locally for about a week, then I guess the theater managers realized it wasn't a feel-good Christmas musical about the glories of heterosexuality.

Over the summer I attended the premiere of "Loggerheads" in Allentown, PA. Now THAT is a good movie!

I would like to see it, and it's playing here in the SF Bay Area, but I heard that the showing are mostly sold out so it's long lines and such and I don't care for that. I will probably wait for the DVD to come out (no pun intended), like I do with most movies.

I wonder if they do any laundry, cowboy-style.

We saw Brokeback Mountain tonight in Uptown, we arrived at the movie theatre 45 minutes early and it was almost sold out by then, we got the last few tickets and this on Christmas no less, so I hope and assume that this movie is doing rather well.

There theater was a mix of straight couples and gay couples and I have to say that I have never seen a movie before where I heard so many people crying, it was quite moving actually. I rarely cry at movies, but this one I really wish I had brought a box of vintage Kleenex. I highly recommend seeing this movie on the big screen and not waiting for the DVD and yes I was surprised and saddened at the "pre-stonewall" ending. When you see it, you'll know what I mean.

........and on the totally shallow end of the pool, the eye candy and the sights and sounds of the vintage appliances didn't hurt 'neitha.

Not playing here yet, nor is there a release date on the film's website or in any of the sites for local coming attractions. It begins 12/30 in Kansas City, MO so I may have to drive three hours...

It sounds like a good movie.

I normally dislike paying big bucks and the hassle of going to a movie theatre. I normally wait for the DVD. I might make an exception for this one, if for no better reason than to experience the audience reaction.

I find it interesting that one of the lead actors in "Brokeback", Heath Ledger, is also starring in a current release, where he plays Casanova. Covering all the bases, I guess!
