Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Spaces on credit card numbers at PP: I did not leave any spaces when entering my credit card number.

I did have to re-enter all my information because I failed to press the "Update Total" button in the box where you enter the amount you wish to donate. I got a message that said "You must enter more than $0" or something like that. Then I realized I probably had to press the "Update Total" button before continuing. Voila!

Spoiled

Paypal worked great. After all the changes you've made to the site I am sooo spoiled by it. When I go to other discussion groups, have to plow through all the old threads, etc. You've done a wonderful job with this. Thanks!

I wanna be a blue kool-aid drinker too.
But being under "lock down", is kind of intimidating.

Lock down syndrom.

Still trying to decide.
I mean, this site is certainly worth the donation,

It's just that fear of being "locked down"....

Oh, what to do. What to do?

I tried a couple of times to upgrade, but received the following message when I click the "Review Donation and Continue" button:

The card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a different credit or debit card number.

I am using an AmEx card. I did not enter spaces in the card number, and entered the correct exp date and CSC number from the front of the card. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong?

That's very strange Joe, no problems elsewhere with non-account Paypal upgrades. Its out of my control because it all goes through them.

I wonder if Paypal doesn't take certain types of Amex cards?

When using Amex, if you're prompted for a PIN code use the 4-digit number on the front right side of the card. All other credit cards use a 3-digit number on the back, and it's confusing because Amex also puts a 3-digit number on the back but it's not the PIN code.

Thanks for the responses. I just wanted to report it in the event it was something I was doing wrong or if it was some sort of bug, as this process is new. I used a different card and it worked the first time.

Since I often troubleshoot software errors at work, I am aware of the common ID-10-T user error. I hope I wasn't one of them. :-)

Robert, have you considered giving everyone read-only access to the ATTT forum, or at least to the topic headings in that forum? It would be a teaser for donations and allow new users to sample before they buy.[this post was last edited: 7/30/2010-22:28]

OK, somebody said that membership would include something like
a complete set of full color, laminated pictures of Robert, in a thong, displaying certain washers and appliance of his collection.
Did I understand that correctly?

My humble suggestion, for what little it is worth (absolutely nothing!), is that ATTT (As The Tub Turns) could be opened up a bit more. I, myself, don't think it's necessary to have it 18+. At least as long as it's kept to "birthdays, holiday celebrations, happy and sad occasions, advice on life, etc" as the rules state. (Obviously, some "advice on life" topics might be an exception, and these should go in Dirty Laundry.) ATTT could be open to anyone who's registered. It would be a loss of incentive to upgrade, but I think there are enough people here who'll upgrade just to support the site, or get other features.

One interesting question I've wondered about with ATTT is with birthdays of members who--for whatever reason--can't upgrade. Birthday wishes are popular here. So are non-upgraded member's birthdays to be ignored? Mentioned where they can't see the birthday wishes? Put in this forum where they no longer belong?

I think Robert got it right- keep ATTT closed, it's an incentive to join. We are not talking big bucks here, the only thought I'd have on that issue would be something like Flicker has with "Buy me a Membership" links on their pages. That way some of the members who are in a tight financial situation could display that header if they could use a little help.

I stand by the suggestion. Again the issue is new users, not us long-termers who already appreciate AW and would contribute regardless of what's in the new paid forums. New users aren't going to know if ATTT gets 10 posts an hour or 1 post a month, it's a stretch imo to call that an incentive or think they'll pay first and then see if the cost was worth it.[this post was last edited: 7/31/2010-05:50]

Good points all, thank you. It gives me something to think about. Right now lets just leave it as is and see how it goes. I suspect some tweaking will be needed in the future.

Birthdays should go into As The Tub Turns, if I feel it needs some adjustment at some point in the future I will do that. Since I kept it as low as $2.00 I think I made it as fair as possible for everyone.

Keep it the way it is.....

this set-up allows new members to enjoy all the great benefits of AW.......

Think how many members we would have still around had this been put into place already.......too many have been run off for various reasons...controversy, personal attacks, forced opinions, etc.---it has happened too many times---this is a little more controlling as well as a persons own self control...thats one of the reasons Robert had to do this, and we thank him for it....

besides, if they want to check out the whole site, they can purchase a trial for a minimum of 30 days
