Bug Report #17 Let the Creativity Roll or Heaven Help Us All

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Rob,

I'm having similar problems posting both with the advanced editing bar and with it turned off... it keeps cutting random parts of text out from long replies. Have tried in both IE and Mozilla and the problems are still there.

Cheers,

Jon

Thank you Jon for reporting this. A few others have also reported this to me. When this happens to you can you please send me the text via email ([email protected]). I really want to be able to fix this once and for all but I cannot unless I can replicate this bug. It has never ever happened to me.

EVERYONE: IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH TEXT GETTING CUT OFF PLEASE SEND ME TEXT THAT YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS POSTING so I can use it to debug and get this fixed. Its probably something minor, but I need to replicate it.

Thanks again.

Hi Robert,
My name is Brent and I have Issues.
Needing to log-in every time I leave and come back.
It is not remembering me "Automatically".

Discuss-o-mat....

Hi Robert,

Question: Is the "Discuss-o-mat" area(?) at the top and bottom of the page (next to the forum links) supposed to be a link too, or is it just let us know that is where the Discuss-o-mat links are?

Thanks!
Kevin

Brent that is a local issue, for some reason your browser isn't keeping its cookies. If it keeps up send me a note and I will help you fix it.

Hi Kevin, I did this because this is the future of web page formatting. If you look at eBay or Facebook you see that their pages are all centered with big borders on both the left and right sides. This is to accommodate all new kinds of devices such as the iPad, Droid, etc. I don't want aw.org to fall behind if at all possible with all the new small web devices coming out.

Hi Robert

Eddie here.

First and foremost, Thank you for all your help and the work that you are doing for this Great Place for all of us.

I, too have to Log In everytime I return. Not a biggy, but just was wondering if there is something to "fix" that on my end ? Thanks, Eddie

Morning guys, sitting here in the Florida sunshine this morning I think I figured out the bug that was deleting some text during preview with the Advanced Editing Bar on. I move the code change in and hopefully that will take care of that. ***fingers and eyes crossed***

As for having to log in when you every time you return in Chrome, when did this start happening???

Again, I do appreciate everyone's help with getting this stuff fixed.

Wear Sunscreen!

I bet you guys are going to get a nice tan!
The Password thing started at the same time the new look came about.
I use Firefox on both Mac and PC.
I did let Firefox "Remember Password" for the club. Now when I click to sign in it takes me directly into the "Imperial" page.
Have fun in the sun!
Brent

Cool stuff. Seems to be hunkey-dory on my machines, iPad, iPhone, OSX 10.6.

I couldn't help myself. Every time I see the Report button, my brain sees it as "Rep ort". I thought it was text at first but then realized it was a GIF. I fixed it. My OCD feels better now.

I also am having trouble with the log in feature remembering me. What do I need to do on my machine to correct this?

To be honest guys I'm not sure myself, I will look into it when I get a chance. Please forgive the inconvenience. I'm not having this issue on any of my computers.

Question if you are logged-in and hit shift + refresh a few a times, then close your browser and reopen it, does it then remember you are logged in?
I couldn't help myself.

Thanks Eric, I'll upload your edit later when I have a chance. :-)

I appologize to you guys who are reporting log-in issues and have to re-log in again when they return. I'm tring to find a computer where this is happening and I have not been able to, every computer I try remembers me after closing and reopening the browser. I'm not at home so its a bit of challenge, I'll keep looking.

It just dawned on me that I believe for users who are using the latest version of Firefox, in order for your login to be remembered you must have your "remember history" set properly on the Privacy Tab...

OK, the "problem" I'm having is not the same as having to login every time, but I suppose the symptoms are close enough that it might be what others are seeing.

I see the first page on the site (http://automaticwasher.org/) and click, say "Super" and then I get a plain page without the wash/rinse/spin buttons, and it does look like I'm logged out, except for the fact that the top right corner tells me I'm logged in and have over 200 days upgraded. Sometimes if I hit the Reload button it corrects itself after 2 or 3 times.

What does fix the problem reliably is to simply click the "Super" button again and it loads appropriately.

I attached a screen capture of the problem. I'm using Safari 5.0.2 and MacOS X 10.6.4, for what's worth.

Robert,

Sorry for the delay in responding. This is the first I've read your response to my report.

Unfortunately I don't recall at this time what thread/post I was composing when the bug happened. However, I was creating it fresh, not cutting and pasting from a text editor etc.

Hope your latest changes have fixed the problem. I'll let you know if it recurs.

(this was composed with advanced editing set to OFF)

Hello Paulo!
Thanks for pointing this out.
This is the same problem that I am having and I did not realize it till I did a little "test" like yours.
Mine also shows everything that Paulo gave as an example. I never noticed that before. If I click on any thread; Imperial, etc. It looks like I am not signed in. If I start clicking around to any other thread, then it looks like I am signed in with the "wash" phases showing.
Hope this helps.
Paulo thanks for pointing this out.
Same on this end.
Brent

Paulo, you are a genius! Thank you for pointing that out. I would have never figured that out without actually seeing someone's computer that is doing it.

I stole your graphic and changed it slightly. Notice in your address bar you are viewing the "_NS" version of the index pages. _NS version of the page is the version of the page that users who are not logged in see. Once you log in the system redirects you to the non _NS (or logged in) version of the index page. So now my question now is how are you getting to this page??? What steps are you taking to get there, does it only happen when you first start your browser after you closed it? Is there a chance that you guys might have saved the non-logged in version of the page to your favorites bar????

Once you click any other page and go back to the index it takes you back to the correct non-_NS page.

Rich thank you for your update, I believe that I might have fixed that particular bug, please keep me updated if you notice anything else odd.
