Bug Report #17 Let the Creativity Roll or Heaven Help Us All

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Robert, the End key used to take me to the very end of a thread, now it goes to wherever it thinks is the end, depending on how much of the thread has loaded. Can the previous functionality be restored?

Robert,
On both computers I have always just typed Automaticwasher.org in the address bar.
Since the changes on the home page it has acted as though I am not signed in.
I have cleaned my cache and such on my PC to see if it would change things but it has not.
So Mysterious!

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times; font-weight: normal; font-size: medium; line-height: 20px; "></span><tbody>So now my question now is how are you getting to this page???  What steps are you taking to get there, does it only happen when you first start your browser after you closed it?  Is there a chance that you guys might have saved the non-logged in version of the page to your favorites bar????

<font class="Apple-style-span" color="#000000"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: normal;">Well, I get to that page in one of two ways: either I type www.automaticwasher.org on the address bar or I click the icon on the Safari Top Pages. From there I click one of buttons to go to a forum. They all say "_NS" on the status bar when I hover with the mouse. Once inside a forum, the buttons will point to the right page without "_NS". It happens anytime I do that, I don't have to quit the browser or even close the page, just opening another window and following the procedure reproduces the problem.

But I think it's weirder than that. When I use a laptop that I have not yet upgraded (it's running MacOS X 10.6.3 and Safari 4.0.5) it behaves properly all the time. So the bug may be in one of the paths that selects from either the browser version or the OS version. Or if they are all the same path, then it's a software bug that needs to be submitted to Apple (bugreport.apple.com) to be fixed by them. I also tested in Firefox (v3.6.4, I haven't updated yet 'cuz I rarely use Firefox) on both computers and it works fine, so the bug is Safari related on my systems.

Another bug

Just deleted the post and reposted it. The first time it really screwed up the formatting (see attached screen capture). To fix it, I pasted the text on a Text Edit window, made it plain text, pasted it again here and applied italics and red to the quote. I don't know what happened, if some formatting inside the Advanced Editing box went rogue or what. But I figured I'd let you know anyway.

Too many bugs to deal with when I'm away from home, I have too many family obligations to spend much time at the computer this weekend.

Later on or tomorrow morning I'm going to attempt to reset all of the code back to the way it was.  This will just be temporary, when I'm home next week and things are more settled I can start from scratch and slowly put in the new look.  When the new look is done and not causing any issues what so ever I can then work on the editing bar.

In 10 years of running this site I have never had as many bug issues as in the last week, so clearly I need to start from scratch when I'm not 2000 miles from home.

Sure, you're welcome Robert.

I *think* your latest bug fixes may have addressed a nagging problem I think I've mentioned before: when posting a reply, quite often the system will hang after hitting the preview message button. A refresh sometimes will unhang it, or a full stop and retry.

But I'm suspecting the problem now has gone away. I guess I need to post this reply and maybe a few hundred others to be 100% certain, however.

:-)

Hope all the family issues sort out. Hope you don't have to start from scratch, although delicacies prepared from scratch are all that more precious.

:-)

Whoops, spoke too soon. Right after that post I tried a reply in the green forum, and had to hit refresh as it was idling forever after the first try at a message preview.

Am I the only one to have had this sort of issue? It's been going on for about a year now...
