About Kitchenaid dishwasher. Back in the "90's" I had friends that purchased a KUDI23. IIRMC, on the normal wash it was as follows:

Fill for 1 1/2 mins
Circulation started and continued to fill for 30 sec.
8 min wash.
1 min 45 sec drain.
15 sec pause.
1 1/2 min fill
circulation started with 30 sec fill.
12 min wash.(water heating extended wash time).
1 min 45 sec drain
15 sec pause.
(now here is the real question, as I remember)
Pump, motor start for 5 sec.
1 min fill for purge
1 mins circulation ???
1 min 15 sec drain?
15 sec pause
1 1/2 mins fill
circulation with 30 continued fill
4 mins final rinse.

Is this correct??? I ask because since our dear leader is alterintering his KD 11-12 (and that's all it takes for me to remember how much I loved KitchenAid), I'm now on a KitchenAid bender. Also, if anyone has one of the new KitchenAid dishwashers, it this the same program that they follow today?
 
Yes, that's the correct sequence for a normal wash cycle for this dishwasher. The 23 series was the last of the porcelain interior (what people call Hobart-style) before the 24 & 25 series with the SS interior, which were glrofied whrlpool PowerClean dishwahers (nothing wrong with those though). Today's Kitchenaids don't follow anything like this at all. Mine Is a Kenmore elite cousin from 2007. Fills for about 1.5 minutes. circulates water for prewash for about 9 minuets. Drain for 2 minutes. Fill for main wash for 1.5 minutes or so. Circulate/main wash form anywhere form 35 minutes to 74 minutes, depending upon soil level and options selecte. Then drain for 2 minuts. For a purge it will fill for about 1 minute a circulate for 15 seconds and drain for 2 minutes. then fill for 1.5 or so minutes for final rinse. circulate for 10 to 35 minutes, depening on whether it heats to 155 degrees or 140 degrees final rinse. (My water temp is set between 115 & 120 I believe). Incidentall, this is based on my "Smart Wash" cycle, it's about all I use.
 
Ok, it is now 10:32 my local time. The dishwasher is pumping the last rinse water out as I type. I tarted it at 8:22, so 2 hours and 10 minutes ago. It did do a full first rinse instead of a purge and that is a 10 minute cycle instead of the brief purge sequence above. There's the 30 minute dry cycle and it will finish. 2 hours and 40 minutes and that' with water 115 to 120 I believe.
 
^wooooow 2 hours? i dont want to sound negative or start a bash but i find that a bit long :/ in any event without a doubt in my mind that long time gives results were the dishes must look new and, like no one even used them ;) my friends dishwasher a mediocre old magic chef only has 3 options heavy soil and normal and a rinse only it has heated and air dry separate button and a wash arm on the top and bottom rack it supposedly does great with everything but pots its when it holds the title mediocre.
 
My Portable Whirlpool that i purchased in 1990 will generally complete a cycle in nearly 2 hrs. with just normal wash with hi temp selected...., sometimes over depending on how long the water takes to heat.

So the Normal wash cycle is very similer. Prewash, wash, purge/rinse, Final rinse. Fill times may have changed, and lenght of wash due to soil level, but for the most apart pretty much the same. You are so wonderful and such a wealth of knowledge. Thanks again

I forgot to mention that your cycle description was perfect. You are one great man. I am willing to bet though, that If you listen closely to your cycle, that when Circulation starts on prewash, main wash, and final rinse, you will still hear it filling for another 30 sec.
