Anybody here ever owned or seen a Carosel dishwasher? I know they've been around for decades. The first one I saw was at a department store in Baltimore called "Two Guys"I also saw them at "E.J.Korvett".At that time ,they retailed for $40.If you go to their website, you can buy one for $99.The one I had worked fabulously and was a lot of fun to watch! The secret in great results was very hot incoming water and high water presure.Otherwise, they just didn't seam to clean well at all.I would load a set of dishes, glassware, cups, saucers bowls and flatware in,turn my hot water on and as it sprayed vigorously,I would add Joy to its dispenser tray and watch excitedly as the suds apeared on the see through lid!The suds only lasted a few minutes then the rinsing would begin.I would ad liquid Jet Dry to the dispenser and let the unit rinse for 5 minutes then turn off the water and lift off the lid to let the load air dry.As long as it was loaded properly,it worked great!Average cycle time was 20 minutes.

Yes we had one when I was growing up. I got it for my mom at Two Guys. It did work great, we used it for about two years until we got a GE Potscrubber in May of 76. What I did was disolve Cascade or some other dishwsher soap in a consentration and use that to wash the dishes. Wished I had it now, it was fun to watch. I also remember Sears had one also. It was a square box and the dishes rotated on the rack through the spray, similar to the roto-rack of the electric dishwashers. It was made so that diswasher detergent was put in a dispenser that was part coupler that hooked to the faucet.

My ex and I (when we were together) found one at a local flea market in the box for his aunt for $15. Of course, I had to play with it before we brought it over to her. I was amazed just how well they worked. You could load it up, put soap in the dispenser, and turn on the water. It was engineered so that the soap would not get into the unit that quickly, thus allowing the dishes to get rinsed off. Then the soap would dispense. Then it would rinse. Entire cycle took about six minutes. The only thing I found that I didn't like was that the racks were flimsy. Otherwise, for someone who didn't own a dishwasher and wanted one, they were a great alternative.

Man, that brings back memories! My folks had one for the country place we had in the Eastern Townships in the mid- to late-70's. It was a great concept, but it didn't work well for us because we were not on a municipal water supply; the old piston pump just didn't get the pressure up high enough to really get a good wash action going. We solved the problem in 1979 when our trusty 1967 Viking top-loading portable dishwasher got replaced by a GE Potscrubber and we moved it from the city to the Townships.

I had one when I was in College

That was a long time ago. I won't say how long but retail they were $25 as I recall. So, yeah, I'm old! Anyway, as I recall it was better than nothing. I don't remember having to wash the dishes when they came out because I think I practially washed them before they went in. For me, it was more about watching it wash than anything else.

Long before the Carousel Dishwasher was even thought of, there was a handy little all metal unit named the CAMERON. These were from the late 40's and worked along the same principle as the Carousel. Ive had a couple of these and saved this one, which is almost mint.........

Interior shot.........There is a metal turntable, mounted on a ball bearing pivot. A center rack is for silverware and a small bed of nails holder is where the dishes are arranged, circular fashion........

The dishwasher is placed near the end of the sink, and there is a drain at the front bottom, with a handle to open and close a rubber sealed flapper........
