Wouldn't you think that Presto would have continued to make an American-made fryer/pressure cooker? I called them before I bought my Fagor to be sure there wasn't one out there. The rep told me that there were too many "accidents" and Presto no longer wanted the responsibility/liability of them.

Using pressure cookers is a common-sense thing. After you use them enough times, it comes as second nature.

The Fagor is wonderful; you'll love it Toggles!! I love the ability to pull the pressure regulator off while there is still pressure in the cooker ... especially hot fat!! Incredible!!

I'm hungry now ... going home to Easter leftovers!!

I like to have extras just in case.......they stop making co

Oh Steve.... I know you like to bust my chops. (No offense here). LOL And I like having them busted. (Oh my). Thats what keeps us all laughing. All of my pressure cookers are stainless except and old 4qt aluminum one. The electric one from Cooks essentials has not been used yet. It is over a year old LOL. I also have a 6qt Fagor.

Steve.. Did you just get the Fagor recently?

Question for Geoff

Geoff, I have a 6qt Fagor. Is the one that you can put oil in for broasting different than the one I have. Or, is it a different set up for oil? I purchased mine three years ago.

Your advise is appreciated.

Thanks, Ray

I am just about hip deep in pressure cookers also.

Tom, I know the feeling. Pressure Cookers, Coffee Pots, Kitchen Gadgets, Washers, laundry detergents, china, chrystal, antiques, holiday collectibles, chachkies est. I am thinking of getting into toasters next. LOL

But it is fun.

Take Care,

Ray

I bought a Bravetti electronic pc a month or so ago and I'm really happy with it. Totally automatic and no guesswork. It has preprogrammed buttons for cook, chicken, beef, pork, soups and even slow cooking along with an advance timer function. All you have to do is put in however much food and liquid you want, close the lid, press the button and when it's done it beeps and goes into a "keep warm" feature. Works beautifully and there's virtually no noise or steaming while it's on. Except of course when you release the pressure.
I've found it cooks perfect rice everytime as well ,Just add equal amounts of rice and water, press the button and in 20 minutes or less it's done.

Electronic PC

Pete, I have a Cooks Essentials Electronic Pressure Cooker. It has all the buttons, bells and whistles. I am dying to try it out. (I have had it over a year now). It was at least a $150.00+ item on QVC. I got it at Value City for $24.00. It had no instructions, so I downloaded them for QVC. I just love a bargain. This is why I have so much s**t. LOL Whether I need it or not.....if it is a good bargain, I get it.

Is the Bravetti non-stick inside?

Ray

Steve.. Did you just get the Fagor recently?

Yes....and will order the glass lid to use it as a regular pot too.

In my divorce settlement I got the basement set of pots and the Ex got the upstairs set, (which was Ex's first choice).

My IKEA 365 set reacts to a magnet, meaning it will function on an induction cooktop. YAY to prior planning! (The upstaris set does not). I gave away to a wonderful home my Martha Stewart set/pieces, and replaced them with a few key IKEA pieces. So now I have a matched IKEA set.

Ray ... I'm not sure if your Fagor is for pressure frying. Do the instructions indicate you can fry in it? I would hate to advise you otherwise and you have a terrible accident with hot oil!

There is a world of difference between my Presto and the Fagor. The Presto is a thinner stainless and the Fagor is noticeably thicker stainless. The seal is different, too. In the Fagor, you don't take it out (which sort of bothers me; I want to clean it and underneath it). The seal on the Fabor is quite a bit thicker, too and is like a silicone-type material.

The bottom of the Fagor is quite a bit thicker because you have to bring the oil to 375 degrees and maintain it while you are pressure frying. The oil is literally boiling when you finish pressure frying.

We eat fried chicken only a few times a year during the summer. It was an expensive item to have, but I was truly tired of dried out fried chicken. With the Fagor, the breast meat stays moist and everybody loves the chicken legs and crunchy chicken wings.

Pete ... Your new cooker sounds great! I learned to pressure cook with my Mom's Presto electric many years ago. Unfortunately, it was aluminum and nowadays, I only cook with stainless or glass. I've always wanted an electric cooker; maybe one day I'll replace my Presto's with one! I must say, however, cooking with natural gas is very easy with the pressure cooker. You can stop the heat instantly and I'm never far away when I'm using one.

Fagor is for pressure frying.

Geoff, I will have to check the instructions. I hope I can find them. I am usually good about this. But just in case...

Can you let me know what the Model number is? I always loved pressured fried chicken.

Steve.. Can you pressure fry in yours? If so, Model number please.

Thanks, Ray

but not while you are in the tub, of course.

Oh Steve.... You are so funny. I am roaring here.

I had enough problems with that shower head, so....NO TOASTERS in the tub. LOL ROLF

Clutch the pearls in mock horror.

Can you let me know what the model number is? I always loved pressure-fried chicken.

Of course I am able to, am I willing to in another story!
ME encourage conspicuous consumption *ARMS FOLDED* NEVER! *LOL*

My Fagor's seal appears to be removable. I did see in the store both rubber and silcone replacements.

FAGOR LINKS:

Mine is just *Splendid*

Steve, Thanks for the info. I think mine is the Rapida. I looked at their website and saw the Splendid last night. Did not see if it can pressure fry chicken. Maybe I am just not seeing it. So if yours can do this, let me know.
PS: What size did you get?

Yes. like the lavender button

Thanks, Ray
