When my parents got married in 1948 my Dad had a 39’ La Salle like the one in the ad. They spent their 5 day honeymoon in Guerneville, Calif. and spent all the money that they had. So, when they got back home, they sold the La Salle for something like $250.00 and bought a 30’ Model A Ford coupe for $75.00 and then had enough money, plus dollars to spare until they each got their next paychecks two weeks later. My Dad was in Law School at the time on the GI Bill, and worked 2 part time jobs and money was tight. My Mom was an executive secretary at Colgate-Palmolive in Emeryville, Calif.
