Zogby Int'l put out a poll of companies whose service is most often considered poor by consumers.

Here are the Top 10 companies who consistently rank in the poor category:

1. Sprint-Nextel
2. Bank of America
3. Comcast
4. Time Warner Cable
5. AT&T-Cingular
6. Citibank
7. WalMart
8. Verizon
9. Wells Fargo
10.DirectTV

I also think Home Depot should be on here. You can NEVER find anyone to help you in those stores. I would rather pay extra $$ at Ace Hardware, and know I will get good customer service and accurate information.

Any Opinions??? Customer service horror stories?. I will also be posting the "Top 10 Best Companies" for customer service.

I also like to add Sonic Auto Group (they are all about pushy sales people who are dumb little shi**), they where involved with the fiasco with my sentra..
Americredit finacial services (45 phone calls in 1 week cause i shorted them $95 and was cursed out by a couple dumb something or anothers), Nissan (bought a brand hammer new 2005 Sentra SE_R and the engine blew... They blamed me for it and refused to replace it, so there bank took it away and delt with it), Sears (we all know why)
Also add Wachovia (when they merged with First Union they lost an account of mine with $3500, which to this day i have yet to see, although supposedly a check is on the way, but i won't hold my breath)
I have had ok luck with Verizon Wireless, but they refuse to give me anything but a refurbished cell phone..
Clearwire is another one.. Ughh..When i moved here we sighned up for service and two weeks later moved into our wonderful apartment. But no clearwire accsess. So... I called them to shut off the account, scince it was within 30 days... Nope, i gotta pay them $200 and pay off the montha dn a half of service we neevr used.
The guys who put our time warner cable in where as dumb as dog sh**.. Plus the guy told me all about his vasectomy and how horrible it was and how he needed an assitant.
Oh Progress Energy..Those assho** charged me a $250 deposit when i moved in because i already had 3 other accounts open and hand't payed the bills for any of them that month.. Plus they screwed up our bill twice now.
Capital one and i hate each other.. But i still have a credit card with them, that i just make the minimum payment on every month
Household Bank had my retirement funds and a savings account until they whent all stupid and lost $500 of mine.. So out the door they whent....

Ok, Thats it for right now.. I have pleanty more, but they are local to me.... Poor customer service is a norm any more.

Oh definitely

Home Depot should be number one for worst. Macy's is also terrible.

I don't trust anything corporate nowadays. It's all about them taking as much money as they can while taking ultimate advantage of their employees and the public.

I've never had any trouble with DirecTV, but I have only had to call them once in the 4 years we had them. But I have heard stories from other people. Dish Network was absolutely terrible with it's customer service, so we switched to Direct.
You are right about Home Depot. You have to search and search for someone, and when you do find someone to help they usually have 3 or 4 other customers asking them questions too so you have to wait in line.
Citibank, most definitely. We had an investment we wanted to transfer from Citi to Merill Lynch. Citibank sold the items immediately, but took 6 months to get a check to us! And when we called to inquire where our money was, they just got nasty!
Once before we had Time Warner cable. Those were some of the most arrogant bitches I have ever had the opportunity to deal with. They truly didn't care about anything. They were the ones that made us switch to satellite!
I would also add Chase Bank to this list. Horrible customer service and fee's for anything and everthing you can imagine!
I think they inherited this from Bank One when they merged last year.

Retail banking is HORRIBLE

just horrible, but try to get along without a bank!

I'm pretty lucky, because I have been dealing with the same bank (Huntington) for years. Usually at the same branch, even. The tellers and branch managers know me, and it's usually most pleasant.

However, when I've had to go to other branches (even here in Kent,) it's like "who the foosh are you, and why are you bothering us with this trivial, under 1000.00 transaction?"

To make it worse, in the latest statement, there was a letter saying that all account fees were going up, as well as the money order fee.

Yes, retail banking (individual customers) is usually not a major profit center for banks. However, things can, and do change.

My biggest complaint is how utility companies merge and local offices disappear. The first one to go was East Ohio Gas. Then Ohio Bell. Most recently, Ohio Edison. Through mergers, aquisitions, and maybe the phase of the moon, it is now "Dominion Energy" (gas,) AT&T (phone,) and "First Energy" (electricity). None of them have local offices anymore. I liked being able to go in and pay a bill in person, get pamphlets, ask questions.....now it's a 1-800 number who knows where, and a charge to pay the bill by phone......

Feh! Feh, I seh!!

pc richard:
a mediocre washer with immense problems (GE)!
a HDTV flat screen plasma that needed repairs 2x(JVC)!
those two purchases were sworn by the salesperson as

"the fastest most reliable service" NOT!

and finally,
optimum online and cable tv:
frequent phone and reception for television problems.

I've been with DirecTV since 1999 and I love them, never had a problem in dealing with them.

If any of you are veterans, check out USAA Federal Savings Bank. Set up by military members for military members. They refund the fees charged by ATMs, no fee checking and savings, competitive interest rates, and good service. I have my banking, credit card, and mortgage with them. One drawback: no branches. They are in San Antonio, TX. But, they just started doing deposits over the internet: scan your check and send using their secure site and it is immediately deposited with the funds immediately available.

Worst customer service I've had in awhile is Home Depot. The one in Orange, TX is ok but the one in Beaumont I will not go to anymore since my friend's son left - he was the only one who would help people.

Thornton gas stations

I went once to a (brand brand new) Thornton gas station on the way to a party. The pump was defective and sprayed my upper torso with A LOT of gasoline. In fact, the pump wouldn't stop for quite a while thus leaving a very large pool adjacent to my car. That jammed pump gushed for a full 10 seconds while I played with the machine to stop the flow. When I went in to the manager to complain I found he was THOROUGHLY UNTRAINED with "incidents".
When I told him I had been doused with gasoline all he said was "You're kiddin me man, You're kiddin' me man.."
I then told him, "SMELL ME!!" (%!@# FOOL! Went thru my mind though I remained calm).
I told him that I wanted to fill out an incident sheet. A glazed look came over him. Realizing that I was facing an absolute dolt, I asked if he had ANY SORT of incident sheet, he said that he had not. This was a NEW store with a new manager and they didn't know how to handle an incident at a GAS station!!! I left NEVER TO RETURN as they are incompetent to the core.
I passed by on the way back and noticed that there wasn't even a bag or notice on the affected pump thus cementing the idea that they were all absolutely clueless to the hazard. THORNTON's is effectively and permanently excised from my world.

Credit unions are member-owned non-profit institutions that usually offer very good service and much better terms on loans and credit cards than banks.
Have a credit card through a credit union and not once has the interest rate gone up, unlike bank cards!

Chad, I 2nd the comment on credit unions. That's the only financial institutino I've ever used. I initially got started because my sister reocmmended them and she was in banking at the time.

WalMart should be #1 on the list.

They forgot one... "Ghetto King" aka Burger King

When you roll up to the drive through and hear "Whass yo' ordah", and then they glare at you for being there when you pull up to the window, and take forever to get your food, that deserves to be on the list. Right next to Ghetto Mart. And I always thought McDonald's was pretty ghetto but they're actually ok, but now BK and even Wendy's has now gone down the tubes.
