Persil Performance

I pestered a friend of mine to bring me some back from the UK in 1998...so much so that he brought me 6, yes 6 of the refill bags in his luggage.

Absolutely loved the scent and only finished the last of it in the past year or so.

Is that your store? Would have been great for me to be around then, with lots of people I know having them in the past and some still do. I have the WD64 which is the later washer dryer.

I agree, Ben, it's a shame you can't buy it in the UK. I might have to bring some back with me next time I go.

Looking at the website, it's available in serveral European countries, but not here. Shame, as I think there could be a real market for a detergent like this in the UK.

The Washer/Dryer in the picture is a WD61N, used to enjoy reading the quick guide manual that can be seen through the porthole. I can remember those kettles in the pic especially the Haden & the Swan fresh fruits collection range.

I thought It was a WD61N. I too like the look of those kettles. My grandparents had a Morphy Richards or Russell Hobbs kettle, toaster, fryer and can openeer with flower pattern and Country Life written on the side. The kettle, toaster and fryer are long gone now but i think the can opener is still around.

On Time

I see your a fan of Aldi Almat Detergents, good choice. Can't quite make out the control panel of your Indesit Washer could it possibly be a Indesit "On Time" Washer from a few years back. Do you remember that one off machine it had a drum with metal lifters.

Almat tablets do a pretty decent job,we very occasionally shop at Aldi,I'm very impressed with the Ariel 3 in 1 pods(colour & style) with the 3d wash boosters,my other half spilled tomato pasta sauce down his favourite grey stripe t shirt,and there's not a trace left from a 40c colour cotton programme,I've yet to try the Febreze pods on whites and lights,hope it does a good job on tea towels as i hate it when they come out still marked!! lol

My washer/dryer is an Indesit WIDXL146,1400 spin,It came in with the apartment,it's a great little machine,I don't tend to use the dryer cycle for anything else other than socks and underwear,The rinses are quite high level which i like and the Flash Clean comes in handy for items which just need a freshen up

Tomato sauce comes out easily with Persil No "Booster" needed.

German Persil Megaperls. I've never had a chance to use British Persil before, but I've heard good things. I think Omo is also a good brand.

Omo is the same as British Persil. They're both the same formular, but Henkel own the rights to the Persil name in most European countries and Unilever own it in the UK and some other countries, such as France.

I only use bleach free powders on my coloured items,that's why i like to use the wash boosters,I'm doing a towel and tea towel boil wash as we speak with the Ariel 3 in 1 pods with febreze and a wash booster,the kitchen smells lovely,I'm hoping the results are good

Is Ariel Excel Gel, still good for lightly/moderately soiled things? I got to try it once, and was impressed by the performance. Heard they've reformulated it though

Tide HE with Actilift

While at Costco this week, I saw that they are now carrying a huge box of Tide HE powder with Actilift. I did not study the packaging, but it said something about getting out stains that are 7 days old. I think the size was 120 loads and the price about $29.99. I am still using my original stash of HE Tide powder. Is this the formulation that some reported as being more sudsy than the Tide HE of several years ago? Thanks.

Why is it that Procter and Gamble won't tell you the ingredients of their ingredients? Something to hide me thinks! I asked them what the current ingredients was in Ariel 'Clean and Compact' liquid and they said they don't divulge information like that to the customers and why did I want to know?

My response was :- "Why do I want to know? I would of thought that was pretty obvious. I like to know the ingredients that go into the products I buy and as a consumer I have a right to know". These companies really p me off so much. Why is it Unilever can be open about their ingredients but P&G can't?

Anyway how do you rate the current performance of new Ariel to Persil?

P&G has a website for the ingredients in their laundry products. I can't test it, because I don't have any of their products right now, but you can choose UK, so it should be possible to find out what is in their detergents.

Thanks floralysius but the codes on the back of the Ariel don't work hence why I contacted them.
