...So we just went out and bought new ones.

I saw this on Craigslist last night and went and picked it up this morning. The seller said they got an error code on the display - F4. I checked the repair manual last night and found no F4 so I emailed Leslie and he advised it may have been an F/H code that would indicate a water system problem (water valve, flowmeter, pressure switch, etc.). I installed it and started a Normal cycle and quickly realized the code the seller had seen wasn't an F/4 or F/H but an F/02 which is a Long Drain error. I could hear the pump humming, but not pumping. Time for a pump-ectomy!

Well congratiolations... This is a bargain!! Normally there is not a big problem if there is a long drain. Can be a clogged pump or tube. And even a new pump isn't that expensive. So fingers crossed and happy washdays!!!

And here is what I found in the screen, there was a bobby pin, rusted almost beyond recognition, a piece of metal wire(?) and a corroded token from a game gallery that ran under the washer. The child's sock you see on the floor next to the screen-tray was wedged inside the pump itself. Jammed up tight it was, now the machine is working perfectly and running it second load!

Amazing bargain for me, but I'm stunned at how quickly people decide to spend $2000 for a Cabrio set when a simple service call would have put the washer back in service. Oh well, we have a fun new toy!

Could ypu post a video of the machine doing a full cycle? I've wanted to see a Duet run a cycle since it first came out in 2001.

You go Greg!!!
Looks like it is in great shape!
I just can't get my mind to figure out how a sock ended up there? The only way I could imagine is that it got stuck between the boot and the outer tub, and somehow, worked it's way between the wash tub, and the outer tub. I doubt that happens very often!?
Man, you can really get some laundry done now! Oh wait! I am telling someone that has 400 washers!
Great find!

Greg - can you see a way that something as large as a sock can get down there? The Duet seems to be very well put together, and there just doesn't seem to be enough space between the drum and outer tub for a sock to work its way past, but I guess if the machine is overloaded, the force of tumbling can work something past the side of the basket? It's amazing how folks ruin these machines...then they complain that they suck because they "break down" or don't work for all the money they paid!!

Model # GHW9200LW -- Ser # CSM0401217

I doubt I'll let the previous owner know about the sock in the pump, they won't care anyway. I should email him and tell him to call me in a few years when their Cabiro flashes an error code!

I suspect it took a long time for the sock to work it's way into the pump, maybe drawn in past the protector-tray by a loose thread. I'm frankly surprised that there wasn't more junk in the tray, but they looked like they kept a very clean house so maybe they were conscientious about checking pockets, etc.

I love this Sanitary cycle and "Super Hot" water temp - my cleaning rags are all sparkling and bright again! The poor Calypso is shivering and feeling rejected in the corner of the garage now, cast aside by a newer model.

Hello greg your collection is already fantastic i show it to people all the time, but did you have a duet before Iv'e seen in your line up . Congratulations on the machine i introduce them at a home show in 2000 they where light blue&white people where interested in them and calling the machines big laundromat washers go figure lol. Does that model have the cradle action in the hand wash program. Thanks Greg.

Ha! Louis, they're already jealous of my clothesline - and the fact that I can get a weeks washing out there before breakfast and -- all in one trip!

I do have a set of Duets - in the corner of the South laundry room - you can see the edge of the stacked set here on the left. I've loved that washer since I brought it home - I've never had one problem. The one I just got is the TOL to this series and I'm having too much fun playing with the heated washing.
