I came across this and I can't help but notice some difference. Why is the tub smaller on the commercial model? Does the Home-Style model have a larger/better balance ring? Why the difference between the two and is one better than the other?

I suspect that the smaller tub forces a customer to use more than one machine, creating more revenue for the business.

That is an interesting theory. In addition to placing less strain on the machine if the tub was absolutely jam packed. Also the smaller tub could help with the shorter cycles topically found on coin-op and OPL machines.

It would be interesting to know about the transition between the two belt Raytheons and the single belt commercial design, they seem intrinsically related.

I wish Speed Queen made washers for Kenmore.
