There is an old WCI Frigidaire in the corner of the laundry room. It was previously the official washer here, but the property owners upgraded it to a WP BOL made about 10 years ago. But they never got around to removing the Frigidaire.
Overall, I think I'm happier with the WP--"Shredmore" or not. It probably works better (not a huge accomplishment). Plus the Frigidaire was getting cranky with age. But I was glad the Frigidaire never vanished for one reason: it, unlike the WP, has a delicate cycle. (The WP is one speed only. The "Delicate" cycle is basically beat the clothes with a vengeance for a period, pause and let the clothes try to recover, and then repeat.)
I've been thinking of using that Frigidaire. I decided this afternoon I'd clean it up a bit so it would be ready when I got ready to do a load. During this process, I opened the lid. The first thing that caught my eye was what looked like a dead mouse on the bottom of the tub. Oh, that can't be! I thought. That must just be something else. Maybe a huge glob of icky lint from the last load! Except, upon closer study, it did unfortunately turn out to be a dead mouse.
Yuck.
I'm now wondering how the mouse could have gotten in. I am speculating somehow made it to the outside top of the washer, and somehow slipped in. Perhaps through the opening that provides the "handle" for opening the lid. But I'm wondering if it's possible that the mouse somehow crawled up inside the machine...
In any case, my enthusiasm for using this Frigidaire has vanished...
