Dishwasher recommendation

Hi all,
I am about to replace my Whirlpool Gold dishwasher and need recommendations.
It has been a great machine but not really liking what I am seeing in the new whirlpools. It is only me but gets a fair amount of use, price not a huge issue but dont want to buy alot more than I need. Have a Maytag stove and fridge that have been good performers.
Any recommendations would be appreciated! I love this site and am amazed at the wealth of knowledge and kindness always displayed.

I had a 90's Whirlpool Gold. I used it for almost 2 years with the board defective and only normal cycle.
You will get as many different opinions here or more than Heinz has pickles or ketchup varieties.
I like my current GE, but many on here don't like them.
A Maytag dishwasher today is a Whirlpool, as are their laundry equipment.
Our kids have a Whirlpool product Kenmore, for three years now and like it. It is a higher end model, like a Kitchen Aid.
The lower end Bosch dishwashers (Asentia series) seem to have issues with the detergent dispensers and wash motors failing after a few years.
Kenmore has fire recall models currently, but I don't know the maker. Most are Whirlpool, but a few are Bosh.
I suppose all have good and bad points.

my recommendation would be to go with a ge dishwasher

i would reccomend a ge dishwasher rated number 1 onthe dishwasher top 10 this model to be precise also american made and very good in term of washing dishes

The last Kenmore dishwasher included in a recall was October 2015 and it was Bosch produced models.  I love my 1 year old Kenmore Elite that's essentially a KitchenAid.

I what I would go for.  By far the 2 best options out there.

branded Whirlpool. I love mine. No issues so far and it's nearly 3 years old and so far I have loved it - you just have to get passed the tiered upper rack. But I hear the Whirlpool's are good too. I think the Maytags will use more water and have a bigger motor though.

Kenmore Elite here very much like a Kitchenaid. Does a great job. Maytag, Whirlpool and Kitchenaid are all owned by Whirlpool now.

My understanding is the "Botch" TOL models have a cycle that will up the water useage and shorten the cycle and clean much like the traditional machines of old. There is a special name for this cycle.

I would be surfing Craigslists looking for old, low-mileage KitchenAids from the 70's and 80's. Estate sales are great.

Is it the Bosch "Extra Shine" cycle?

My Bosch 300 series from 2001 gets everything clean. Never any service calls. About a year ago, parts of the lower rack began to rust out, so I replaced it. They no longer made the 300 series lower rack, but there was a size-compatible mid-range rack with fold down tines and a silverware basket that splits in two and which can be placed in various configurations in the rack. Yes, it cost close to $200, but it also provided some upgraded features. If/when the machine incurs an expensive repair, I would replace it.

Jim, Peteski was telling me about it and I don't remember . He sells the new machines and is much more familiar. I don't think it was "Extra Shine".

The option is...

Speed Perfect. I have it on my Bosch 800 series. Yes, it will speed up the cycle and use more water, higher water temps and increased spray pressure. It does work very well I might add. But most cycles with my Bosch are generally under the 2 hour mark and seem to finish up in less time than the estimated time displayed at the beginning of the cycle.

I would definitely recommend a new Maytag dishwasher! This one looks pretty nice but you'd have to check the reviews. Comes in stainless steel, white, and black.

Bosch added a new cycle on their 2017 linup. I think it was something simmilar to the 1h wash by Whirlpool.

My recommendation is that you buy a Bosch / Siemens dishwasher or a Miele. Buy Bosch / Siemens dishwasher as BSH dishwashers are the best value for money.
I have a Bosch integrated dishwasher and it's a few months old and never had trouble at all.
Before the integrated one I had a Bosch Exxcel SGS56E02GB dishwasher for 13 years. It was a flipping workhorse. I have a few friends who own BSH dishwashers and they recommend it.
I have a friend who owns a Hotpoint FDD912 dishwasher in Graphite and she has had no trouble with it.
IMO Hotpoint dishwashers before 2003 are good and reliable workhorses as they are basically rebaged Bosch / Siemens machines.
I don't think Hotpoint dishwashers post 2003 are good because they are rebadged Aristons / Indesits made in Italy.
Before buying the Bosch SGS56E02 in 2003 Mum decided on the Hotpoint DWF70G because of the look of it.
Bosch / Siemens make the best machines without going the Miele route.

Just got the top of line KitchenAid

I hope it is worth the top of the line price. We have now had several Whirlpool based dws over the years, whirlpool, Kenmore and KitchenAid. All have been great performers with very little repair need. Last KitchenAid lasted 12 years, still worked but the racks rusted out. At our senior years decided to splurge for the top line, it even has a window and interior light. So far it washes great and is so quiet.

Personally I've had very good luck with the Bosch, as has everyone I know who's gotten one. Granted, I wouldn't go below the 500 series, and since I upgraded to the 800 series a while ago after some rodents decided to eat the 500 series, I've been very happy. It cleans very very well, and the third rack for utensils is such a good idea. The V shape is also quite a good idea, we can fit more than just forks and spoons because of it. It gives so much more room because you don't need to use the utensil basket. It's also really really quiet.

I don't know

much about Bosch dishwashers - but I do wonder if there is any major difference between the USA vs Euro versions of Bosch. I do know there are big differences in the clothes washers because of the voltage difference.

Oh, and what's up with the pictures? If someone posts more than one picture, I can see the first one, but when I try to > to the next pic there's just a spinning circle that stays there forever.

Bosch US dishwashers have a lower wattage heater and thus different cycles.

Racks are somewhat different as well.

No Zeolith drying for you guys over there.

But they have the same pump, where used the softner unit appears to be the same, and so is the water storage system. Tub design should be the same as well.

Oh, and different control system.
