We had a WH double door slantfront. Who here knows what was inside that transmission? Almost surely a planetary gearset but was there also some kind of fluid coupling arrangement to allow for spin acceleration?

We had to replace it once before replacing the whole machine ~1957. But since they just took out the old one and put a new one I never got to see what was in it.

These are welded closed so you must destroy them to see what is inside, yes it does have a planetary gear set in it for wash speed reduction and it has a disk clutch that just locks the two pulleys together for the spin speed when the large solenoid is engaged.
