While I like the quality of Aldi's cake mixes, they all have pudding in them.  Some recipes that have cake mixes in them specify non-pudding type mixes.  What's a person to do as almost all mixes come that way now with a few exceptions.

GRR on the 4 pound sugar bags.

They moved it to 4 pounds when the price went up and as I thought, now the cost of a 4 pound bag is as much as a 5 pound bag.

One thing that is interesting, and this may be a western thing: Store brand sugar, which is mostly beet sugar, is still in 5 pound bags and significantly cheaper.

The cane sugar tastes sweeter to me (and more importantly to my wife, as I don't use that much sugar), so I buy that.

I buy C&H Baker's Sugar which comes in a carton (like milk), and I think it's always been 4 lbs. as long as I've used it, which is 8 - 10 years.

With many things, I've noticed that the package size varies between different stores. For example, I see Kingsford charcoal in full 20 lb. bags at GFS and Home Depot, but at Kroger and Meijer they are smaller, like 17 or 18 lbs.
