Retro Hoover washers !!

Crumbs..in all the years i have been on Ebay, i don't think i have ever seen 3 old Hoover washers all on at the same time, and so close in production dates..ie; 0354 (Single tub /1957) - 3174 (1st Twin /1959) - 3334 (2nd / Twin/1963)
Hope they all go to good homes, where they will be looked after to which they deserve.
Regards
Keith

The Hoover Twinny

That Hoover Twinny is beautiful, I hope it goes to a great home it is like new.

Another nice Hoover

well another damp an cold day at work today turned up a nice surprise when a couple asked me to help them with an old tumble dryer out of their car.

sorry about the qaulity of the picture but my phone/camera is a bit crap and makes it look as if there is no square door......also i carefully edited this picture as last time i took a picture of a newly acquired machine Mike commented on a Kenwood chef stainless steel mixing bowl i had in the there, well guess what.........it still is in the back of my car, so feeling ashamed i edited it out of the picture........one day i will clean out the back of this car

It all looks in ok condition, they said it didnt work but what bothers me more is it has no wheels????? they have been removed.........also i was going on about how good these old machines are that the couple started thinking about keeping it, me and my big mouth going on about how shite modern mainstream ones are.

Argh well

Have a good new year everyone

Way to go Gary!

Great find there - looks in good nick too.

The lack of wheels is a very bad sign - a bad sign that, once in its life, this machine will probably have been stacked on top of anything from a Matchbox, through to the A3060 series.

One of Mike's D6008's is also missing its wheels and it came to light that it had spent much of its life stacked on top of the matching washing machine.

The 3022 matchbox dryer, that me and Rob own, is also missing its undergarments. Oh for the story it could tell!

Really pleased on a wonderful find - now for the matchbox and/or A30XX!

Cheers

p.s have you picked up that D6042 yet?

Gary, just off topic but managed to snap up a pink Constellation on fleaBay this week - been trying to find the pics you posted of yours, can you email me any if you have, cant remember what colour it was etc.

Cheers

off topic and dryer

Rob, I have sent you one picture of my 867,the other pictures of the one i sold on ebay have long gone sorry.
That pink you have just got looks stunning, that colour is such a statement :-)

Paul
You have got me thinking now as to what washing they have !!!!......hmm they probably would have mentioned if they had a Hoover 30XX, but at least i understand why the wheels are missing, what a mess of the top they sat on without wheels, scratched to **ck ;-(

I collected the 6042 some time ago, it is in virtually mint condition inside and out, no rust nothing, just a tiny dig in the control knob front cover, it amazed me when i got it home, all i had to do was T-cut it to bring back the shine on the paint work and replace the lid securing screw plate on one side, it works beautifully, and drys clothes quickly, I am very impressed with it.

Attached is a fot again not very good qaulity coz i used my phone/camera

Looks great Gary.

really good condition - all very shiny. a very stylish machine from a stylish series.

Yep - stacked 1970's Hoovers required the removal of the dryer wheels. They then sat inside a tray atop the washing machine. Were the wheels still attached then there would be a certain amount of too and froing on the spin cycle, as the trays that I have seen arent a tight fit.
Also the dryers werent screwed to the washing machine, unlike with hotpoint - the tray was the only restaint.

Here too

The Australian version of the above dryer...the Apollo, used to sit inside a frame on top of the Zodiac/Electra which used the same chassis and had the same footprint as the UK equivilent washer as the above dryer

Ours were a good fit. Not tight, but reasonable and the extra weight of the dryer certainly helped negate the occassional 'bounce' from a Zodiac.

Is everyone confused now?

Zodiac

Thats interesting to know that these models where called Zodiac, i have often wondered what Hoover offered in other countries.

Thanks
Gary

I believe

...I gather that the Electron came out in the late 70's...

There is another current thread that pretty much tells you the history of Hoover front loaders in Oz from the early 70's until their demise at the hands of Email/Electrolux

...but basically, the Zodiac had no detergent drawer...and the Electra that followed, did. Infact it was the same drawer that the Earler machine had split as - Left 'Cold', Right 'Warm/Hot' and fabric conditioner in the middle at the back

A D6216

It the old story of 'too far away'!

bit gutted as that is the match for the Hoover A3350 Electron - mine and rob's is crying out for a perfect partner.

Although whether £40.00 is a bargain is a debate - I know the quality is there, but still its a bit steep for an ebay purcahse.

p

Maybe

But my feeling is that it is only steep if you don't want it. GBP40.00 is not a lot of money these days and if it is buying 'old' quality then you could argue that it is money well spent....especially if it completes a set ;)

The D6216

I suppose the fact that it is out of reach, means that I can analyse the costs with my head.

Were it closer I would of course analyse it with my heart.................and would buy it!

I do hope it goes to a good home.
The A3350 (shown below) will have to wait a bit longer to meet its perfect match.
