I didn't want to hijack the "How are you keeping warm" thread to ask this question.

Have any of you out in cyberland ever used the Eden Pure Heaters? A friend of mind said they just saw one at a sewing center and are going to buy one.

1. Do they really work?
2. Do they save on energy usage?
3. Are they worth almost $500?

Those that have used them, or know of them; are they any better than a $49 ceramic heater as supplemental heat?

They are just an overpriced (way, way overpriced) quartz heater in a box. Don't waste your money. The ceramic cube heater will work just as well. Tell your friend not to waste their money on one. When Consumer Reports rated space heaters, the Eden Pure (the most expensive at $400) came in dead last.

Very Overpriced!

I totally agree!
They Really aren't any different from the regular Ceramic heater with controllable thermostat.

All electric (resistance) heaters have EXACTLY the same efficiency at point-of-use: 100%

1. Therefore even this one will work.
2. Eelctric heating does not save energy compared to gas or oil or solar. But it will help one economize if one can lower the thermostat for a number of other rooms.
3. No, a $15 heater will do the same job.

Does not reduce humidity?
Any heating source will have the indirect effect of lowering the RELATIVE humidity in that warmer air can hold more moisture (which is why a dryer heats air; to raise its ability to hold water vapor).

Eden pure as in pure heaven? Give me a break. Trying to evoke an emotional response by the name? UGH!

Here is another totally useless ridiculous piece of work.......

Apparently one pays for the wooden mantle; the heater is "Free".

"Total scam.
Amish and electricity don't even mix.
Amish and new technology don't even mix either."

"Here's your history lesson for the day: amish people, for the most part, don't have electricity in their homes.

Here's your geography lesson for the day: "HEAT SURGE miracle heater is a work of engineering genius from the China coast so advanced,.....Amish people don't live in china, they live in the U.S.A and Canada".

My only advice is look for a heater with a high and low of varying wattages, in case the thing blows fuses (on HIGH) based on other loads on the same line.

Also look for a thermostat. Overheating any space does nto save energy.

:-)
