Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Tonight I feel grieved...  at the loss of a man who was loved by so many, and whom I had conversed with via email and had hoped to someday meet.  I grieve for those who were close and are hurting.  Recently I too lost someone whom I worked closely with and loved -- it seems my emotions are close to the surface which really is not like me.  I hope that the way Terry lived his life as evidenced in the pages of this website would inspire us to work at emulating some of those finer qualities.

Our deepest condolences...

...from across the pond.  Another who has never met, but will miss the presence on these forums.

The overwhelming amount of love and admiration shown on here, even from fellow members who haven't met or known him personally, is testament to his kind nature.

May thoughts be with those who were close to him,

Jon & Jack

Eulogy

If I were there, and people were invited to speak, I'd say:

In any encounter, Terry was your most gracious host and you were his honored guest. Terry, there is really no one else like you.

Mike, those lilies are so beautiful.

I did not know him personnaly, but I would like to express my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

As I was looking through the pictures, I noticed that he seemed to always be surrounded by friends who loved him, and shared the same passion for appliances.

I am sure you guys who knew him will miss him a lot.

Back tonight from Terry's funeral trip to Illinois. It was a terribly sad occasion for all of us there, and those who were unable to be there but the friendship and love that brought us all together helped us get through. We had a very good few days all together, remembering the great times we all shared with Terry. Lots of laughs, tears and love.

Fred S. and I put together a couple of display boards with all of the pictures that everyone posted here and in Vacuumland as well as a few others we collected from our files. There were far too many fun times to include everything over the last dozen years or so we've known Terry, but we were able to capture his joyous spirit at it's best. These were displayed at the funeral home and many of his friends and family really enjoyed seeing all the fun and happy times Terry had with all of us. After the service today, they were folded and placed in the casket with him, along with the printed comments from both threads so the outpouring of emotion that we felt for Terry will be with him forever.

Greg what a wonderful idea you guys came up with! You and Fred did a great job with the memories board.
I am sure that you are all emotionally drained.
Terry has been on my mind everyday since his passing.

Fred and I just arrived home tonight. We have been in Chicago since last Saturday morning. It was extremely therapeutic to be around such close friends in this sad time. There was a wonderful turnout from both the washer side of the family as well as the vacuum side of the family. We were fortunate to meet Terry's friends from Danville, IL -- with whom he used to teach, and often traveled with during retirement. It was nice meeting Terry's family as well. They all knew how much Terry meant to all of us, and we knew how much Terry meant to them as well. We will all be just fine, but it will never be the same without Terry.

Terry!

Greg - Thank you and Fred for making these beautiful boards.
I just wish I could have been their. I have Terry on my mind a lot. And it is so true it will never be the same without Terry! I know Terry will always be with us in Spirit!

I am so sorry to hear of this tremendous loss. I only knew Terry from exchanges on Super and he always had nice and positive thoughts to contribute.

My condolences to all of you who knew him and loved him. I hope the warm memories of your dear friend Terry bring you comfort.

Numb, exhausted and drained

and those are the easy feelings. The loss is great for us but as I saw it was even greater for his beloved nephew. To be there for Terry was an honor, to be there for his nephew and everyone else was bitter joy for me, and I would do it all over in a heartbeat. All of us supported each other in such a loving way through it all that I feel we came away as one powerful force of love for Terry.  And I think everyone who attended came away with a sense of awe at how many people our friend had touched in his brief time here.

I spoke with several of Terry's fellow work mates. One was Geneva, she ran the kitchen at the School in Danville, she said Terry used to come into the cafeteria and >>Load the dishwasher! She had seen the pictures of Terry loading Fred's dishwasher on the boards and then we both said at the exact same moment"That was Terry" it was a real connect.

I hope all of you out there can get a sense of that awe from Terry's thread.

Terry-on!

Generous With His Gift Of Acceptance

Terry was the first to welcome me to the club, my first Secret Santa exchange and among the most friendly and inclusive when I attended my first wash in. We can all identify the icons of this group, the founding fathers and those with the most prestigious collections. They can also be the most parsimonios in sharing and posting. Terry was there for everyone regardless, praising, encouraging, defending and deflecting if we got over zealous in our posts. We all rememeber Terry's great food at Roger's in Tucson 2008, Greg's in Omaha and the pictures of Fred and Terry waxing the kitchen floor in Minneapolis before beginning the food preparations for the vacuum convention; total commitment and giving were the essence of who Terry was. We saw more evidence of his zany, happy and witty side on the Vac-Land site. He was a complex man of wit, intellect and care that all blended into a one man symphony that could fill a room and out perform any negativity. I'll never perc another pot of coffee without a tug at my heart strings remembering Terry's collection of percolators.
