An excellent Bendix washer owner's manual is now available in the "Ephemera" section.
It's dated from 1940, and addresses proper operation of the Bendix front loader, but the advice on how best to handle all sorts of laundry issues is very near priceless.
It discusses laundry soap, and not detergents, which will be of interest to those who wish to try a soap for their laundry. It also discusses best ways to handle various fabrics, soils, and stains, much of which is still highly relevant today despite technological advances in cleaning agents and washer design.
Of recent interest here has been the practice of boil washes. The Bendix manual flatly states that except for handling the laundry of persons with contagious diseases, boil washes are not needed. However it should be added that "Hot" in the 1940 Bendix world meant 160F (which information is not in the owner's manual but may be found in the Bendix service manual of the same era).
And of course thanks to Robert for scanning and making the manual available, as well as the (unknown) person who provided the original for scanning.
