Has anyone else been getting endless calls about extending their auto warranty? It never seems to end, pushing the button to remove my name from the list seems to do no good. If I call the number back, it won't go through, is this the latest scam?

Several a Day....

....And if I push the buttons to speak to a representative, they hang up on me while I'm asking to be removed from their calling list. That is a serious violation of FCC telemarketing regs.

What that means is that this is self-limiting; these people will be in a lot of hot water soon, fined out the wazoo. It may take a little while for the FCC to catch up to them, but this is Federal law that's being flouted.

YES!!

I was waiting on an important phone call today, and got THREE of them!

What I don't understand is how I'd be on lists, because I recently got VOIP (phone over the internet).

Just about every other kind of whackadoodle call has disappeared, but my car warranty calls? NOOOOOOO.....:)

I even get them over here on my VoiP line

I hear you folks, hell - the jerks are even calling me over a call-forwarding three-point set up!
Sheesh!
They are not following the rules and eventually the feds will get them, but it sure is taking a while - I'm even on the no-call list.
Scam.

It's unbeliavable!

It happened only once to me with Tele2 phone company, I simply told the lady on the phone that if they called again they'd be called back from my lawyer. Amazing enough they stopped calling immediately.

Car warranty

I not only get calls to extend the warranty on my car which I had extended when i bought it...I get mail telling me its already expired and I need to extend it. Be careful of nasty little scams like that too. It's ridiculous!

I WAS receiving many calls a day from these rip offs. This is a SCAM. What I did was take the number that they left on my answering machine and put it into the main search engine on my homepage which is comcast. It brougt up the name of the comapany and it listed the officers of the company. Well I then called the president of the company and left him a voice mail, and non polite with plenty of volgarity and promises. I have your address and where you work and I will come and visit you if these calls persist. They stopped the next day and haven't had one in months. Give it a try. Sounds like the same people.

Make Them STOP!

I get messages about extended warranties on my answering machine; I get recordings at work and I get mail inviting me to extend the warranty on my 2000 Saturn SL1. Just one problem with the letter pinheads: I long traded that SL1 for an ION, which still has many miles on the factory warranty!
Kill them before they phone again!

FTC "Do Not Call" List

Many people signed up for the "Do Not Call" list a little over five years ago and that was for five years. There was some talk about automoaticly relisting people, but I do not think that ever took place. I suggest going to ftc.gove and resigning up for the "Do Not Call" list.

I agree with Allen and have been meaning to check on our Do Not Call status. We are not currently having much trouble. If it says "out of area" on the Caller ID, we generally don't answer unless we're in the mood to have some fun with a hapless telemarketer who can't function without a script. I prefer a machine of my own over voicemail so if I choose to monitor any call, I can.

I got an unsolicited call a while back and captured the number and business name, then went online to file a complaint with the FCC. I never heard anything again from that business . . . or from the FCC.

I say to heck with extended warratees on both cars and appliances.and I had my standard wired phone disconnected a long time ago-Just use the cell phone. Now PEACE and QUIET-no sales callers.Best way to get rid of them.Use your cell phone only and be careful who you give the number to.

Extended Warranties on Appliances

Whenever we shop at any of the "big box" stores (which is VERY rarely) we hate it when the salesperson tries to shove an extended warranty at you. These are just mostly profit centers for the companies that offer them (however, I would buy one for anything FL)
One way of shutting the salessperson up is to tell them this:

"Well, with the way you are pushing that extended warranty maybe this isn't such a good buy after all. I think I'll go shopping elsewhere for something different".

Does the trick each and every time!
